Which pin brush?
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Is there a difference in the quality of pin brushes? What would you all recommend? I just have a cheap one now and I'm looking to upgrade. I have a Golden Retriever, mostly I use a coat king on her , I need something that my Mutt (Labradoodle?) will not hate. Thanks for your recommendations!!...

Calming signals
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Because we're always so focused on aggression in these discussions, but we hardly ever talk about other things. On another thread, Kim mentioned that sniffing in some contexts can be a calming signal in dogs. What kind of calming signals do you see in your dogs and others? Penny often yawns...

Maybe some of you don't get the ASPCA newsletter (Callie)
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
this is a copy of an email and it's got links in it so I hope it's nothing inappropriate -- I don't think so. It's from the ASPCA and is from their email announcing their new Animal CSI stuff which is pretty cutting edge and helpful to teach vets and local authorities HOW to investigate...

More on food and UTI issues
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So, my kitty went to emergency for a blockage. The xray and urinary culture showed no crystals or bacteria. Either way, he was blocked with blood so the vet put him on prescription food. I just don't like this stuff and think that it is way over priced. However, when I asked about it in a vet email...

Mommy and Daddy have decided that I am a Holly. They said it just fits me! Anyone want to guess what she is mixed with? She is about 12 weeks old and 20lbs, mostly Rottie I think, but for some reason her head makes me think of a baby Pit Bull and she also had a white patch on her chest. Other than...

I don't mean to joke about something that is truely a problem for some families, but if I can't laugh, I don't know what I will do. I have crated Buddy at my parent's house a number of times for different reasons as we don't trust him in their big house (he jumps gates) or with...

My Mini Schnauzer, Buckel, will be a year old next week. I am about halfway through his current bag of puppy food, and I plan to switch him to an adult food when it's gone. We've been using Nutro Natural Choice Puppy since about 4 months (It was recommended to me by our puppy kindergarten teacher...

Black Mouth Cur

Not many people have heard of this breed, but I have an 8 month old Black Mouth Cur. She (Lacy) and her full brother (Zach) were given to me about 8 months ago, and I absolutely loved them both. Sadly, I lost the male dog (Zach) to my sister's German Shepherd. For those of you who do know this breed...
