    Girly Question

I was in the drug store today and saw epilators, from what it looks like and from what my BF told me, they pluck out the hairs?  Now, silly question, but does it hurt?  Has anyone used one before?

OUCH! I much prefer wax although it is not without a certain amount of discomfort. Practice however is the key!

Ah, if wax is better, than I know it is a no for me lol.

THEY HURT HORRIBLY! Every few months I forget what it feels like and try mine again and I get through about a one centimeter area. I have been waxed and lasered some places and nothing hurts half as bad as that stupid thing.

Yep, I've used one for years. Waxing is great, but not something I'm going to do myself at home (messy!), and it can be expensive to have it done at a salon, not to mention the bother of making appointments and time of getting there. I've never been good at shaving, I almost always nick myself, and it has to be done way too frequently. An epilator can be used every couple of weeks or even longer, plus, like waxing, the hair grows back finer and sparser just like with waxing. You can also use it on your bikini line. It hurts some, but it's really not bad at all.

I was about to ask what it's for, what hairs?  But you answered my question.  I can't imagine plucking hairs (there)!  OMG, Just use NAIR for crying out loud!  LOL  Plucking???  Oh, that just reminds me of the 40 yr. old virgin movie when he got his chest waxed!  I just can't imagine!  Oh, I'm in pain, just writing this!

I have elected for the most easy and painless route: I don't shave. Big Smile

Darn it! I was going to say that! "Alex Lifeson!"

You should see the outtakes. He came up with a variety of phrases to express the pain of waxing chest hair.

Yes, I've used them and oh my gosh YES they hurt.  It may be a personal thing since Cassidy's mom says she likes it but ohhhhh man, I can handle pain but not that thing!!

As far as waxing, I recently discovered a really nice product that is less painful and WAYYYY less messy than "traditional" do-it-yourself waxing kits. This is the stuff: http://www.imoom.com/proddetail.php?prod=MSR

It's called Moom, it's a sugar compound instead of a wax (that means it's water-soluble for easy cleanup), it goes on a little thicker than wax and so seems to hurt a bit less, it smells good, and it comes with reusable cloth strips. It's also organic. Good stuff! It doesn't irritate my skin much at all, and I have super duper sensitive skin that tends to swell up and get rashes after any type of hair removal at all.

So there's my plug. Ditch the epilator, order some Moom from Amazon, and be happy Stick out tongue

Hmmm, sounds painful.  I shave (pits, legs, and other questionable areas).  I pluck eyebrows with a regular tweezers.

I suspect setting myself on fire would hurt less than an epilator.   At least the pain would end faster.

Just the name "Epilator" is scary and reason enough not to use it! I hated it when I had my eyebrows waxed... so I can't imagine being waxed anywhere else... eep!

I just use the traditional razor... perhaps it takes more work to keep everything nice and tidy but in my opinion it's a lot less painful than anything else available. Nair burns me! I don't think that's a normal side effect... so I quit using it.

Most people have a higher tolerance for pain than I do. If I can avoid it, I will.
