Girly Question

THEY HURT HORRIBLY! Every few months I forget what it feels like and try mine again and I get through about a one centimeter area. I have been waxed and lasered some places and nothing hurts half as bad as that stupid thing.

LOL "Forget what it feels like and try min again..." this just CRACKS ME UP!! LOL

I've used one of those stupid thing... and I got so mad at it, I threw it. (And I'm not usually prone to random fits of anger) It hurts you like nothing should especially if you're gonna have to pay for it. The least they could do is pay you to take it.

I've wondered how the girls in the commercials can sit there smiling while using it, I'm sure they were dying on the inside while it sucked their will to live. They probably had to take breaks often to mop up the tears.

    Get waxed... definitely. Wax.

I suspect setting myself on fire would hurt less than an epilator.   At least the pain would end faster.

    LMBO!!!

I used to do my own Brazilian. It was bearable, but in the end I decided not worth it. I invested in a really good, gently, close electric shaver and have never been happier. 5 minutes a day (or 2, or a week, depending how lazy I am) is infinitely better than half an hour or so of solid, eye-watering pain every 6 weeks, and there are some places I'm happy to go with a painless shaver that I shuddered just thinking about putting hot wax on. I love love love smooth, hairless skin, but I also dislike pain, and when I can have smooth, hairless skin without ripping hairs out by the root, somehow doing it every few days is completely bearable. I have that "bladeless razor" thing...do you guys have that over there?  It's basically a thing of hair removal cream with a plastic scraper thing to help take it all off after 6 minutes.

Easy peasy, doesn't hurt, I have to do it every 10-14 days, it's quick....and oh yeah....doesn't hurt! LOL.

I am looking for other options (that's why i asked about the epilator lol) because whenever i shave with my razor i get red bumps all over the place and I don't know why.

I know for a fact, though, I am not wasting my money on an epilator lol

SAME! But I do know why. It's because my skin is super duper duper sensitive, and the world hates to see my legs. Stick out tongue Seriously, if I shave, it looks great for about 12-24 hours, then I get super stubbly/red, and heaven help me if I shave more than 2x/week. I get red bumps/rashy/itching for weeks afterwards. Even if I use shaving cream, a new razor, etc.

I've had some decent success with waxing - better than shaving - but it's such a pain (so to speak) to do yourself.

I strongly recommend against Nair/Veet/etc. depilatories because if your skin is like mine, which it sounds like, then you will get a really bad rash afterwards that will take forever to go away. Worse than shaving.

I'm looking into laser hair removal because I'm so sick of fighting with my stupid dark hair and sensitive, butt-white skin. Summer is the worst. And underarms? Forget it! I can shave maaaaybe once a week, if I'm lucky, which really doesn't cut it when I want to run around in tank tops. Sad

Darn it who was the brave sould who tried one of these out for us? the one that looks like it was for mashing hamburger not shaving....I forget who tried it but that thread was INCREDIBLY FUNNY!

Cita, i have tried veet cream thing for sensitive skin, and it didn't give me a rash until about 4 days or so afterwards lol.

I think I might bear getting a wax done, but I am such a wuss to pain, I will probably cry lol

Ive always wanted to be able to afford going to a salon to get waxed to keep up with it.  I like it all smooth and shaving gives me bumps *sometimes* which is a pain and hurts as well...

Ive tried to give myself a brazillian wax, put it on, pulled a little, cried, and went to wash it off... OOOOOHHHH MYYY GOOOD never again will put wax down there by myself.  I thought I was going to die.

Ive tried the creams and stuff but they dont ever seem to make it as smooth as a razor... leaves a little prickly, so thats like whats the point?

Ive never tried and electric razor although Ive always wondered how closely they shave and how irritating to the skin or not they are.

I grow hair like a jungle grows trees, so sadly electric razors just don't cut it for me. (Get it? "cut it"? har har har) For me to really get the results I want, I'd have to shave with them every morning, and that's waaaaay too much of a time investment. They don't shave nearly as close as a regular razor.

For anyone curious about waxing, get a sugaring kit, take it home, and practice with very small patches on your shins. The skin there is a lot less sensitive and you learn how to pull the strips off best. (Don't forget, pull close to the skin and up, not out!) I'm still not daring to approach my girly bits, though. I can't even get really close to the bikini line without it hurting pretty badly. Regular wax is fine, too, but it's messy because it's not water-soluble so you have to have oil in order to clean it up.

I also got the bumps about 2-3 days after using the Veet "bladeless shaving" stuff. Sigh.

I get waxed every 5-6 weeks, legs, armpits, eyebrows & bikini area.  The first few times were painful, but 2 years later, I barely notice that it's happening.  I usually do Brazillian, but recently I've allowed it to "grow out" a bit.  Tomorrow, it will be waxed back into shape.....the shape of a Christmas tree!Embarrassed

I think I might go to get waxed before I go on vacation, but isn't it odd, I mean, having a person do that to you?
