How do you teach a dog not to bite the wall?!
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I have a young beagle and don't know what to do anymore... I yell at him every time I see him doing it, and there is the problem. He never repeats the biting on the same spot. Like he doesn't seem to understand that the whole wall is forbidden, not only a part of it...

Prong Collar Question...
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I have a question about fitting a prong. Consider a larger breed of dog - a strong dog with intense drive - that happens to have a skinnier neck. I know how to take out prong links, but in order to fit it properly, 4-5 of the links would have to be removed. Going down a size, 1-2 links would have to...

Is my dog chunky?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Sorry I don't have any pics right now. But does a 17'' at shoulder dog that weighs 27pounds seem chunky? She doesn't look fat and has a waist but maybe a little overweight?

Help! Evil insects invading!
Posted to: News & Entertainment
They have invaded. Disgusting, evil, creepy-crawly, dastardly, hole-finding, crumb-eating COCKROACHES. Argh! I need help. It all began a few weeks ago, when it was just one of them. One, crawling across the counter. Death by pot holder for that one. Then there were more. An ever-increasing tidal wave...

A Sad "Poem"

Gah! Moving to NYC, with dog. Advice?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
So... just as Riley and I are getting settled into life here in DC (I adopted him last May), things get interesting. My company wants me to move to NYC. Professionally, this is a great thing. I am 99.999% sure I want to do it on that front. I have some general concerns about NY, but my biggest worry...

Submissive, Yet Aggressive!?
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I recently bought an adult dog who has a wonderful temperament with people - very friendly, outgoing, not fearful at all. A little on the submissive side, but not excessively so. She seems to be more submissive towards my other dogs. They've been very tolerant of her and eager to welcome her into...
