It is Giant Cell Arteritis and my Mum has just been diagnosed with it. I'm working hard to understand it and I know that there are a lot of really knowledgable iDoggers out there. Can anyone tell me what they know? All I know so far about treatment is that she is on really high doses of prednisone...

I have been chatting with a few friends about life in general , and one thing came up, what would we want our children and grandkids to remember forever about us?? Mine was a lot more simple than most, I want them to remember how deeply I loved them and that Good Manners are Expected.... This was...

Grrrr...I'm getting sick. Figures. On one hand, I typically lose weight when I'm sick, but my energy goes away. I so cannot afford to be sick right now. I have so much on my plate that a lack of energy is not a good thing. Any ideas on what I can take? Right now I just have a sore throat...

Limping terrier

I have a 5 year old jack russell. She has been fine the entire day and after lunch she crawled up behind me in my computer chair to nap. She slept for about 2 hours then I got up to leave the room and she jumped up and leaped off the chair. I noticed as soon as she started walking she was slightly limping...

Happy Moanday everyone! I'm happy that I actually got some sleep last night. We got some serious rain this weekend though. I felt like I was in rain hell. Stuck in the house with 4 dogs yesterday was not fun. The rivers are supposed to hit 2' above flood stage by tomorrow. I shouldn't complain...

Had an agility trial with Belle this weekend. She was her usual perfect self! My big star. Anyway on Sunday we ran in Open Standard, she was perfect. We have had issues in the past with contacts, and I have been really working. Unfortunately her handler is having a weave issue I hope to work through...

Training methods for older dogs

Who has a good sound training method for older dogs. maybe that would be the same as for a puppy? I'm sure there are a lot of good trainers out there and a lot of opinions about them. Who do you like and why? I would like to do a little work on training with our older dogs, and make the decision...

We're planning a weekend visit to New York. Ever since I moved to the west coast, I only get to NYC when I'm visiting family in CT, so it's usually a quick trip into the city for one very hectic day. This will be the first time in years I'll be able to have time to really enjoy it. ...

Prong collar question

I noticed when I put the collar on Maze one of the prongs comes apart real easy so I find my self double checking to make sure it's altogether. BUT! At the mall last night Maze did a full body shake and the collar came apart completely. I had another collar on her just in case but it spooked me how...

Anybody feed this? Our local dog bakery now has a frequent buyer program. Orijen, nature's variety and TWO are just way too expensive. They have by nature, Taste of the wild, fromm, and before grain. I had never heard of before grain, but i picked up a sample and the boys loved it. Any feedback on...
