Aggression or playfulness?
Just brought home my new female toy poodle home last week. My other dog who is also a poodle but a year old neutered male seems to play very rough with her, He is constantly growling and physically dominating her although he has not bit her. He does a lot of mouthing , but doesn't hurt her. She...

Doesn't like his huge back yard....
I have a 7 yr. old Airedale/Australian Shepherd cross - Ruger. He is a great dog, constant companion, well behaved, no bad habits... I moved into a new house from an apartment 6 mo. ago, and Ruger sits by the sliding glass window and whines the entire time he is out. The back yard is fenced, a half acre...

Gross - Stool Eater
I have a 4 year old female lab who insists on eating her stool as well as that of my 4.5 year old male lab. She has done this for years and for years we have tried to break the habit. We have tried everything from commercial products (i.e. Distaste, etc.) to suggested home remedies (i.e. Meat tenderizer...

Help with barking at kids!
Lucy has one big problem - kids! I don't have kids, or know many people who do...therefore, she wasn't well socialized with kids as a pup. Now it's a  roblem, since kids will often approach us on walks and ask to pet her (I love that they ask). She immediately gets tense when she...

Walking dogs together vs separate
I have a question for those of you with two dogs: can you walk them both together or do they go out of control? If I try to walk both of mine together they have almost a competition going on. If we pass another dog, Nikki will growl, and Cairo will have to growl louder and pretty soon it escalates into...

3yr old dog still occasionally eleminates in house
Zoe, our female shih tzu still goes to the bathroom in the house at times, and I don't know why. Most of the time she will tell us that she has to go. Other times she will go a pee and /or poop in front of the toliet! Or in other rooms too. Sometimes the kids don't give her enough time outside...

New Puppy/ Older puppy goes insane
I am having the worst time with a 9 month old puppy. We've had him since the first of December. He was a nice, quiet puppy -- housetrained, would whine some when in his crate but never barked. Almost 3 weeks ago, we got another of the same breed (Silky Terrier). We try to spend equal time with him...

Zig Zag walking
Hello all, I was just wondering if any of you had any good ideas on how to get my one year old Boxer to walk next to me on a leash rather than zig zagging and crossing back and forth in front of and behind me. Thanks!

Hello everyone! I have 7 months old Pomeranian who barks at every dog and person he sees. This problem started about 2 months ago and I have tried pulling on his leash, firm "NO", spraying water bottle..and nothing seems to help him. He has already completed puppy obedience classes and he...

Escalating fear of harness
Our rescued dog (1-2 years old ?) has decided that she won't let us put on her harness for walks any longer. She started out by wearing the harness pretty well.. She kind of 'froze' when I slipped it over her head. And she walks really well in it. Much much better than when we were walking...

In love with the Dishwasher?
Umm ok this might sound a bit weird, but for the last few weeks my 18 month old Border Collie has developed a strange obsession with the dishwasher. She stands and walks around it, usually she looks as though she's listening for something, she drools, she licks it, and whenever I walk into the house...

Jumping
Can anyone give me tips on teaching a Beagle puppy not to jump up on people? My parents have a 4 month old pup, and she's really very good except for this. Thanks in advance.

Shadow is driving me NUTS...need some excellent idog advice
Brief history for those who don't know....Shadow was a singleton pup and so had no littermates from whom to learn a lot of stuff. He has always been very vocal and a bit of a pain as far as mouthing. We worked hard on bite inhibition so it's generally just mouthing, but I still don't like...

Holding the pee! Bladder talk!
Hi! I am the new proud owner of an 8.5 week old Lab/Coon mix. He is hesitant to go in his crate at night, but finally does and settles down. The wife and I know that he will need to be taken outside in a couple hours. Well, the last couple nights, we put him down at 9pm, he woke to pee at 11:30pm...

Whining When Alone
Hi there! I have a new puppy (8 weeks) with a great personality! She loves being with us, she loves her toys and she's okay in crate at night in my daughter's bedroom. My problem is during the day when we are not home. I have a wire exercise pen set-up outside with dog house, shade, toys, kong...

BAD BAD GIRL!!
My Sydney is a 5 month old boxer/lab mix and has terrible behavior problems. She never did any of this until the past month and I have had her since she was exactly 8 weeks old. She has been whining when left outside, running and slamming her body into the screen door to make a loud noise to come inside...
