    Zig Zag walking

Hello all,  I was just wondering if any of you had any good ideas on how to get my one year old Boxer to walk next to me on a leash rather than zig zagging and crossing back and forth in front of and behind me.  Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

What I did was set mine up on the left side of me. If he crossed over, I would set him up on the left side of me again by crossing behind or whatever, so the dog is on my left, and praise n treat when he was where he was supposed to be. I also used clicker training with him. Try it. [linkhttp://www.clickertraining.com]www.clickertraining.com[/link]

I like to use both side's (because you never know when the time calls for it) so i train on both sides...
But if he is Zig Zagging, he messing around! always make sure you make the change over not him  (you give permission and you can take it away)
I teach my dog to always walk behind me, do not let him pass me (stop and direct him back) then he'll learn your the leader (top dog leads the pack)  and i find this stops alot future behaviour problems..
It might take a little while, but he will catch on, that overtaken is not working..  and your dog will gradually take place loose lesh by the side of you..
I always find this works for me, hope this helps...
