    Aggression or playfulness?

Just brought home my new female toy poodle home last week. My other dog who is also a poodle but a year old neutered male seems to play very rough with her, He is constantly growling and physically dominating her although he has not bit her.
He does a lot of mouthing , but doesn't hurt her. She is also very playful and gives it right back to him eventhough she's only 3lbs and he is 10lbs. They seem to like each other most of the time, but when they are playing, I feel like I have to step in sometimes and separate them for a time out. Should I be concerned about this behavior or is this just normal? Will his behavior influence her or will her sweet personality calm him down?

If you pull the dog away that seems to be the most aggressive, and the other dog comes back for more, chances are it's just rough play.

One of the first things I've heard of in pharaoh hounds is that a new puppy gets picked on until that puppy decides it's had enough and strikes back.  The same thing happened with our brand new female peke.  She was the akita's chew toy, stuffed animal and all around punching bag...until one day at about 6 months old, she had enough.  We found the 135 lb akita perched on the bathroom sink scared to of his 10lb sister, who wanted to rip his face off.  We never had any other problems with her being a chew toy.  In fact, she would go after him and he'd come running for help.

You are right. If I remove Dugan from his new sister Maddie, she just comes running back for more rough play. She's such a little stinker! I guess when she has had enough she'll let him have it and put him in his place. Dogs have a way of working things out don't they?
