Teddi's New Title!!!
Teddi finished her rally novice title this past weekend. I am SO proud of her, it is her first non dock jumping title! She did really well, on Saturday she had a score of 98, was the 1st place golden retriever (specialty) and 4th place all breed in the class. On Sunday she got a 93 (mom couldn't...

Which of these sounds the healthiest?
So I'm going to be making Simba a birthday cake and I'm not sure which is the healthiest. Don't think I'll be doing the Bacon Chicken one because that just sounds nasty. :P http://www.dogbirthdaysandparties.com/dogbirthdaycakerecipe.htm there's a link to the recipes. If anyone else...

Fat content in canned food.
My friend has a dog that had a major attack of pancreatitis. It took her a long long time to finally get off of Prescription food because she was soooo sick and it was soooo scary. So she is feeding California Natural kibble ( low fat ) and adds some canned to go on top. She had doen that with the prescription...

To anyone who thinks SchH is only for people with a tough guy complex...
...how about a 7 year old girl scoring a 91 and 92 in obedience and protection at a national trial? Her dog is older than her and she has to raise her arms to avoid touching on her about turns. I was wondering how the dumbbell toss was going to work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTZmIFdgU2M http:/...

Retriever Training
Does anyone else here do hunt/field work with their retrievers? OMG we are having a BLAST with it. When we were looking for Quinn, we went to an AKC hunt test to talk to lab people about breeders. We watched and it was SO incredible watching these dogs do what they were bred for and light up. So I decided...

How to interrupt focus?
Question?? When we are tracking with Greta she is so focused on a scent you can't get her attention. I think we need an emergency stop, just in case. Her obedience training is excellent, she minds all commands any other time. Until she gets on a good track and I can forget it. Some trainers have...

Training for protection??
I have a question on training bite work, if anyone here has experience. I have a now retired police malinois, was already well started when he came to live with us. He has been so much fun, just didn't have the super drive to work on the department. I now have a 10 week old female pup, who is...

Small breed needs
Hi everyone, Bigfoot here. Enjoyed the feedback I got about your thoughts on "cookies" for treats and now have a new question. What do you look for in a small breed food? Is it size/texture? What ingredients? Are some ingredients oncompatible with small breeds over large breeds? Is there...

Becoming a trainer - need all the help I can get (Xeb)
I've been at my new job for one week and already I'm asked to take on a giant leap and become an assistant dog trainer for the shelter in addition to my current work. I'm not doing this alone, I'll be working with the trainer who already runs the classes. It's great news for me but...

Grain Free and Frequent Stool Problems
We switched Ari over to grain free. First we tried Evo Red Meat Formula. She loves it, works mostly great, but she was packing on the pounds it seemed (likely due to the much higher fat content) PLUS she kept pooping, small hard ones, about 5 times on our afternoon walk. This coming from a dog, who pooped...

Canidae experiences
Hi everyone, this is my first post as I sit next to a new bag of Canidae ALS that I plan on switching the kids over to. However, I just terrorized myself on the internet with some awful reviews of Canidae after 2008. I'm not prone to believing everything anyone writes, nor do I think that dog...

TOTW or Blue?
Right now Blake(my pup) and Eli(my Dad's pup) and on Eukanuba Puppy Food, I really want them on Blue or TOTW. And as my Dad is now interested in the dog he has - he's on bored to feed a much higher quality food. =) So, from what I understand TOTW is an all life stages food? I can feed it to...
