Treibball

    Treibball

There is a new organization on FB started by a trainer in Colorado - don't think they have a web site yet, but the page is here for anyone who wants info: http://www.facebook.com/americantreibballassociation. Also, this site has info about this new sport in the US: http://www.livingwithdogs.us/classes/treibball.html.  I'm dying to try it with Sequoyah, and we are planning a workshop at my training center in the near future.   Sounds like a fun way to give herding dogs some herding activity even if you don't have livestock.  Has anyone here tried it yet?

I "found" the sport by accident, looking for an outlet for my friend's two hand me down BCs. She lets them herd giant balls, regularly, now, LOL. They love it! I'd love to see the sport spread, to give these herdydogs a safe, easily accessible outlet for their drive. It looks awesome!

It is going to spread.  I think that the woman in Colorado is going to try to set up American rules and take it on the road;-)  She intends for it to be fun, although I'm sure there will be those that turn it into another competitive sport...

Can't WAIT to see seminars on it. I know quite a few doggies that would really benefit from something very physically AND mentally challenging.

I tried it once with a friend's BC. Was fun and we all learned a little bit, for the BC, control was the biggest thing. For us, how to control the motion was the biggie.

I've taught my dogs to push a ball around, but they don't have the drive to push and push and push and push... lol.
