Milk Thistle
Just got Gibby his Rabies vaccine and put him on Milk Thistle for only a couple of days... didn't have any more. So now I am going to get some more but wondered how many Mgs to give him per day...since they come in different Mgs. He is 113 lbs. Thanks!

Fleas? Seriously?!!?
So, I think I have finally figured out that Luke has fleas. Maybe a week or so ago, I was brushing him, and found a bug on him. He's also had some black dirt in his hair when I've brushed him for a bit. Today, I pulled another bug of the same type off while brushing him. So, I finally looked...

Upset Stomach!
So, the day before yesterday I gave Marley a raw lamb bone...for his Birthday! Yesterday, I came home...and my husband (who is usually in a wheelchair) was sitting on the floor (because he was rough housing with the dog and got knocked out of his chair) and Marley was eating a bar of soap (because...

The importance of probiotics
About a month ago, the day after she had been to Purdue Veterinary Hospital for a recheck, Jessie started having very soft stool with a lot of mucus. I took a sample to my vet and no bacteria or parasites were found. My vet said it was probably caused by stress from being at Purdue and he suggested probiotics...

Stinky pee odor
I don't know whose pee it is since they get to go anytime they want along the drainage at the side yard, but it really stinks of ammonia even after scrubbing with dettol and rinsing with diluted white vinegar. It only started to get really bad 3 days ago. I was trying to spot for cloudy or bloody...

Bugsy's shoulder
many of you are aware we have been dealing with a front end limp since the end of July with no significant improvement through rest, NSAIDS or pure pain relief (tramadol). We went to an orthosurgeon that couldn't find anything specific outside of some missing cartilage in his toe. I didn't believe...

How often do your dog's nails need to be trimmed?
I just read an article in Bark and they said their one dog's nails stay at an ideal length just from walking a couple of miles a day on mixed surfaces and that their other dog needs theirs done every couple of months from the same exercise. I know a ton of people that get them done by a groomer 1x...

Laryngeal paralysis; GOLPP
Ashton has GOLPP... vet heard his breathing which to me sounded like he was occasionally wheezing softly. She immediately told me he was very initial stages of GOLPP.. This might worsen in months or years.. and then she says "but do know we can correct and treat this by surgery, 80% success"...

My dog ingested rat poison...and lived!
I want to share my dog, Abby’s experience with rat poison – Decon. She had it in her system for a week and she survived! Do not write your pet off, there is a good chance for survival! Here is Abby’s story. We discovered Abby ate rat poisoning, and very ignorantly and foolishly we admit, thought she...

Dark nails
Hi all. My dog who's brown has really dark nails and I'm scared to cut them for him because I don't know where to stop. It literally takes me an hour, sometimes more just to cut his nails. Are there any tricks out there to guide me? I made his bleed twice and I swear if I do it again, he's...

Acupuncture and TCVM for pain and what else?

Nose Growth and honking cough
Hello all, I just found this site. Our sweet baby Charlotte was just diagnosed with a nose growth (the doc just found) and maybe a collapsed trachea. She is 10 and not terribly old. We are going to see a specialist on Wed which is a lifetime away. Does anyone have any positive stories about these conditions...

Lacey has a mouth tumor / growth
I discovered it Friday night, about 10 PM and lost it, completely scared! On Saturday, my fave vet was off and "the other vet" was on, so we waited till this afternoon for an appt. Lacey has a suspected fibromatous epulis. "Suspected" as only the lab can say for sure, if we do a biopsy...

Overdose!
I accidentally overdosed Alphie and Ashton on SAM-e and Ashton's vetmedin. Gave them 400mg of SAM-e twice and Ashton's vetmedin 5mg twice. I called the vet right away and they just told me to monitor not really stating what I should look out for. I'm so scared now. And I need my brain fixed...
