HELP dog sick sorry if this is in wrong spot

I hate Sunday's it never fails my dogs get sick on Sunday and I am panicking till Monday comes and I can take them to the vet. My 8 year old Chihuahua started throwing up last night my mom was doggy sitting as we were away. He has thrown up probably 5 times in 16 hours or so. She said it was snotty at times and yellow at other times he wont eat and wont drink and is very lethargic just not acting like himself I have tried chicken spaghetti noodles eggs pumpkin he wont eat anything I am really worried. On Thursday or Friday my daughter took him outside to go potty and he ate something she said it was weeds but I dont know the only reason I knew was because he came back in the house making a very odd face like something was sticky in his mouth not sure if this is just causing him a tummy ache or if its something more I plan on going to the vet first thing in the morning lets hope they arent closed for the holiday. It really bothers me that he wont even drink anything I am forcing water at this point.

Oh by, sorry your little guy is not feeling well.  Going to the vet first thing in the AM is a great idea.  Is there an emergency vet you can call ?  I would probably be taking him to an emergency clinic if you have one in the area.

    I hope he recovers soon.

There is one but they are awful the last time something like this happened all they did was IV fluids worried about fluids the next day I took him to my vet and he has eaten a tissue and had a blockage. So I dont trust our er vet :( and they wont give you any advice over the phone nothing at all :(

    HEY YOU!!!!  *waving*

Is she pooping at all?  it sounds like a blockage to me to be honest.  They can have full or partial blockages.  Vet first thing in the morning sounds right.  I would say that's preferable to an e-vet you don't trust.

    Good luck!!

Yes he did poop I will have to ask my mom if it was last night or this morning I cant remember what she said. I hope he doesnt have another blockage I cryed my eyes out through the last one. CRAP it was last night none today oh I really hope we can get through this.

Tasha -- I haven't said it in this paragraph yet -- **calm down dear**

Truly -- getting upset isn't gonna help you nor the dog.  Dogs eat weird sh*t!!  They get obstructed sometimes.  It just makes US more vigilant.  I've got a friend who has a peke who eats rocks ALL the frigging time.  (and they have a gravel driveway??? ugh)

Vet in the morning -- will be thinking good thots and saying prayers the chi does really WELL!!  and *hugs* to you!!"!

Trying I would say at this point I am just 100% sick to my stomach. Still hasnt thrown up since about 4pm but hasnt pood since last night :( Would you have the vet run bloodwork or just go straight for the xray if I was trying to be cheap??? Not that cheap and my dogs have ever mixed. My other dog eat freaking everything OMG but she always pukes it up like no big deal I mean you should see that stuff she throws up I mean REALLY :) But this one nope he eats 1 thing he should and something goes wrong as long as we can get away with a barrium treatment I will be fine I couldnt handle surgery I would lose it. Its been a rough month for us Rella's anniversary just passed and my grandmother passed a 2 weeks before that September is officially suck month around here :( :) Thanks as always I do always love hearing from you and his temp was fine 100.6 :)

Natasha -- get him to the vet this morning.  I've never had them do barium for an obstruction -- usually an x-ray or maybe an ultrasound.  If it's an obstruction it will need to be removed probably.

IMHA wouldn't present like this usually.  Let me know what the vet says.

Sending vibes your way...hope everything goes your way at the vet.

We are back. Blood work didnt show much blood was at 48% which is good but with that being said any other blood test he has had done in the past his blood is always high like 62 on his last blood work and 60 the one before that. Xray didnt show anything besides his stomach lining is thick which she says goes with him feeling bad. Bloodwork doesnt show pancritis (SP). So they gave him some fluids under the skin cause I didnt want to leave him for an IV I can just keep forcing water here at home. They gave him antibodtics and some shot to help him not vomit he still wont eat or drink on his own and if he shows no improvement I will probably go back tomorrow just to have him recheck. His gums are way lighter then normal for sure his gums are always like so bright they look inflamed so not sure if some of this is the dehydration because when you push on them hardly any color is there which scares me with Rella's past. He is still very lethargic and isnt getting around just laying there. I am glad you say IMHA wouldnt present like this cause all I remember with Rella is she wouldnt eat and the pale gums, she didnt vomit and I think she was still drinking when we first found out. But after such a hard case Rella was any sickness scares the *** outta me

You do know it should NOT NOT NOT be that high right???  Even 50 is fine for a whippet or a greyhound but 60 is WAY TOO HIGH.

When you press on the gums they **SHOULD** go white.  The thing you are testing to see is how long it takes for the color to fill back in after you press on it.

Gums so bright they look inflamed **ARE** inflamed.  That's not good either Natasha.

They can give you something like Reglan to settle his stomach.  Did they do a fecal?  Do they suspect a blockage?

Did they do enough bloodwork to show the kidney and liver valuels?  There is more to be discerned from bloodwork than JUSt the PCV and platlets.

Yes I know but they never seem to concern they always just say well he could drink more water. He has probably had bloodwork done 5-6 times and its always that high I freaked at first but they just seems like his normal. His gums.... hopefully I say this right they arent really going super white because they are not all that pink and the little bit of color that comes back is not super fast about coming back. His gums dont look inflamed right now since they have lost some color. His gums are normally so so so pink they look reddish. But he gets his teeth cleaned by a professional place and has no teeth problems except a couple loose teeth in the front which they say happens to a lot of Chihuahuas when they get old. They gave him something for his stomach some kind of shot. And no they didnt do a fecal he still hasnt pooped since Saturday night the xray showed a little in his colon but so far it hasnt come out. And no they dont suspect a blockage she didnt suspect a blockage even before the xray but I requested one because I needed piece of mind. They did a big bloodwork the checked liver kidneys pancretis electrolytes all of that I need to go pick up the paperwork my brain wasnt working right I had both kids with me and we were there 3 hours so at the end I was just trying to not have the 3 year cry plus I was on a rush out of there because my son had to get to his therapy class.

About 20 minutes ago I offered a little of the I/D wet food and he did take it so I hope that is good it was only about a teaspoon but he did take it which has been a first. But he still isnt drinking on his own. I am suppose to give him .5ml of pepto 2x a day as well as his antibodtic. Since I didnt get to see the vet that took care of Rella because he wasnt there when I was, I am going to call tomorrow and see if he will look over anything just for a double check. I dont like that they said he stomach lining was thick I looked that up and yes it can be something simple to fix but it can also be something serious.

He has never been a big water drinker like ever that is always the thing that gets his flagged at every bloodwork is he needs to drink more water. I am still giving pedialyte to oh and he had a small finger lick of baby food green beans when he ate the wet dog food. I am going to ask if he needs to be on a different food. he has had stomach problems for years when he was like 1.5 maybe 2 he got put on the Hills I/d food because if he had regular food it would give him bloody stool and he would vomit so they said he had a sensitive stomach well he was on that I/D food for like 3 years and then I started him on the pro plan or purina one I always confuse them for sensitve systems and he did fine with it. Then about 6 months ago we changed him to the senior food because the senior food said it was also easy to digest for older dogs. But I am wondering if he is allergic to something in the food like corn or wheat or something I know they make dog foods that take a lot of those allergens out maybe we should try it??
    Thanks lady
