A year with IMHA - new problems
Hi everyone, my name is Mindy, my dog is Sparky, my Shar pei. She is almost two now, and she was diagnosed with IMHA in March 2013, I never ever thought she would make it this far and it has been a huge battle, with three blood transfusions to keep her alive. I am not sure what caused this, she had...

Please advise: Strange / Weird bugs in dark poop
I have a poop collector / scooper thing that I will keep poop in a couple days before I empty it. I saw bugs in it last time, but wasn't concerned as poop had set awhile. So tonight the dogs were out for one hour and I scooped up the poop, and the bugs were there again. Before I go on, let...

Heat Stroke - Be Prepared!
With summer just around the corner, be sure to watch for signs of heat stroke in your pooch. Heavy panting, raised temperature, rapid heart rate. Best to keep you dogs cool and calm on really hot days, heat stroke can occur when a dog is just sitting still. Dogs regulate heat through panting so on a...

Kennel Cough: No sign on improvement after antibiotics?
Hi, so here['s the dealio. I have this precious 9 week old shepherd/lab mix. I got her about a week and a half ago and she came with kennel cough. I took her to the vet and she gave me a 10 day worth of Clavamox. Her coughing appears worse and her eyes and nose are running from when she's hacking...

And now I'm broke... (haha)
Lillian had her annual check up this late afternoon. Which also consisted of a Distemper Booster, Rabies, and Kennel Cough (vaccine version, not up the nose... I can't have a possible sneezing coughing dog during the exam next week, no way). They insisted on all this other bloodwork and all these...

Ascites but no other symptoms
Hello! My dog is a 10 yo 50 lb hound mix (rescue) who has been in treatment for seizures ever since I got her (8 1/2 years ago). We knew with the regimen of phenobarbital that has worked to control her seizures that someday she would likely develop liver problems. Well, over Christmas her belly became...

Family history and health
For those of you who know your dog's geneology, what would be the chance that my dog would have the same issue as her brother? I have just found out that Buffy's brother has been found with a huge abdominal mass and his condition is grave (he is a champion show Basset). I am getting concerned...

Need Advice for Cushings Disease
I apologize in advance because I feel like this might be long... We adopted a four year old beagle mix back in 2006. He weighed 50 lbs (very overweight) but otherwise seemed great. Around the end of 2008 he started peeing all over the house and drinking TONS of water. We took him to our local vet and...
