Does the quick really shrink???
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I have been told that if you trim a dogs nails frequently the quick will begin to shrink so that you can keep them shorter. Can anyone confirm whether this is true and how often do you need to trim the nails? I have two Beagles and I trim their nails with a dremmel every two weeks. They get regular...

opinions on this food
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I posted about this a while ago on the old board but there are a lot of new people with opinions now and I'd like the old opinions again too . I feed Zoe Innova now, but I am thinking about switching every 3-4 months between 2 foods to keep her happy. So I'd do Innova and one other food. Here's...

Do "Rescue Groups" REALLY Rescue?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I've been taking in animals my whole life. Each time I take one in, or, as in the case of feral cat colonies, take "some" in, I spend hundreds of dollars and all of my spare time caring for them and trying to find real homes for them. It's always the SAME thing: friends, family,...

2 Is Enough
Signature line suggestion
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Another forum Im on requests that people put their dogs breed, name, and age in the signature line. This is done so that when there is a question about a certain dog the poster doesnt assume that everyone knows what dog they are referring to, and so that people who reply dont have to ask what type of...

Partial Dwarfism or just not purebred??
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Okay, so I went and took Daisy to the vet at schoool, (recently graduated vets work there, so they give the college students a discount) for a recheck in urine, (it went down a little- lingering at 7.5 from 8.5 yay!) and the vet (who's been a vet for about 5 years) said that she thought Daisy had...

Do you have 100% reliable recall?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I also thought of this in the microchipping thread.... How many of your dogs have 100% trustworthy recall? I honestly don't know how I've done so well with Emma (maybe b/c we think alike, spastic ADD girls that we are), but she's 100% reliable. I trust her to come to me, in any situation...

I paid 40 cents per can of the cat food and 70. cents of the tripe (big cans) Anymore, I get the good stuff marked down 75% with an...

Must have vaccinations?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
The last time Nicky was fully vaccinated was probably 14 years ago. He's mostly lived by himself or with one other horse the whole time, and I just never felt the urgency. And I've never been into mandatory vaccinations, even before being anti-vaccination was trendy. But now he lives with...

suppose you have an adult Golden Retriever that you believe conforms closely to its standard. In fact, this dog already had a point toward its championship when you bought it. Although you purchased the dog from another breeder, it was born in the United States as a result of a breeding in the United...
