The last time Nicky was fully vaccinated was probably 14 years ago. He's mostly lived by himself or with one other horse the whole time, and I just never felt the urgency. And I've never been into mandatory vaccinations, even before being anti-vaccination was trendy.
But now he lives with 8 other horses at a barn that has about 20-25 altogether. Plus West Nile is getting to be more of a concern here. I'm having the vet out for a West Nile vaccine, and he is suggesting that I get everything tomorrow. I'm not comfortable with that. That seems like overload for my senior horse who is not used to that much entering his system at once.
What vaccines do you consider vital?
