OK - so I've decided to help design & carry out a fundraising event for my local non-profit, no-kill shelter. I've been volunteering there for a year, but I want to get a little more involved. I definately would like to get the dogs involved in this event, but I suppose it's not manditory...

This is unbelieveable. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood...mostly upper middle class families, cheapest home probably costing around $200,000. Well, my boyfriend calls me this morning after he left for work, and told me that someone broke into his truck! They busted a hole in his window and about...

I figured it was time for an update. Since just before Christmas, we have adopted out three puppies, four grown dogs (plus one more pending) and a kitty! WHOOOOPEEEE! Two of the dogs were Pitties who had been there since MARCH. Boy, did we do a happy dance when Champ and Stella went out the door. ...

How to fit/size a martingale
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Hi, I'm new here and have a quick question. I've seen conflicting information on the web about sizing/fitting a martingale collar. Should it be loose on the neck and then tighten to the diameter of a standard flat collar when closed? If that's the case, it tends to move around the neck alot...

College and Majors

OK, I am having a very hard time deciding what to do. This is my fourth year in college; I started as a pre-vet major, but I hated the blood and guts and didn't want to have to put animals down. So, I took some business classes while trying to decide what to change my major to, and I finally decided...

America Vs. Europe
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I always thought that America was full of the most dog-loving people in the world. But after talking to this Swedish girl today at the pet shelter I volunteer at, it seems Europe loves their dogs more than we do. For one, she said that puppy mills are banned in Sweden and she thought so for the rest...

my 6 year old cockerspaniel mix just became paralyzed, all 4 legs were curled up and rigid and she seemed to be shaking, this lasted for almost 5 minutes and then she became suddenly "normal" she did not wet herself and her face did not seem to be affected. 3 years ago a similar episode...

Raw diet?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
The protein percent in kibble is in dry form but in raw form I know it goes down because the moisture is included, my question is when it is in raw are they still getting the same amount of protein as they would if it was dry? Sophie eats raw and I was reading that dogs do well on at least 30% protein...
