Need new clippers for inside ears

...specifically for clipping the inside of Schnauzer (cropped) ears (lots of nooks and crannies).  I have an Oster finishing clipper that I've used for several years and it works pretty well.  The Oster blade is approx 1" wide.  But I'd love to find something more narrow.  It needs to have a very fine blade with no chance of nicking the ear, and with as little amount of noise/vibration as possible.   Any suggestions?

Im glad you asked this question.  I'm always nervous about shaving the ears on my Scottish Terrier. I would love to know the safest blade/clipper to use. Hope some of the pro's respond to this.

At the grooming shop we just use regular clippers with a 40 blade.  They also sell blades that are only about 1/4 inch wide that attach to a regular pair of clippers.

Is a 40 less likely to nick than a 10 blade?

It depends...it won't get caught in a skin flap because the teeth are very close together, but if you press down too hard it can give the dog razor burn.  I use a 40 blade to do poodle feet- it works SO much better than a 10 blade for getting between the toes.

Thanks for the info! I will get a 40 and make sure not to apply to much pressure.
