Dog issues and the HOA
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So in my new building we have been having some issues with one of the new owners. He owns a small studio and has a BIG lap, probably about 100 pounds. This dog is ALWAYS locked out on his balcony. The balcony is small and packed with his dirty clothes hamper, a crate and some old blankets. IN addition...

Freezing deer meat
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Ben's co-worker went hunting and gave us the deer heart and liver (and he has another heart for us, too). Does deer meat REALLY need to be frozen for a certain amount of time before it can be fed? This stuff has been frozen for about 2 weeks now. If it does need to be frozen for a certain amount...

Dave's Simply the Best
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Has anyone tried Dave's dog food? I saw it was one of the foods not on the recall so I went to their website. It looks a little gimmicky with the bassett hound with a clothes pin on its nose but it is an egg based food with chicken, too and is supposed to cut back on gas and be very digestible. It...

Mindless Chatter - Sunday

Hope Jewilee isn't mad at me for starting the thread, but I just had t since I'm up at 0'dark thirty. Off to an agility trial this am, luckily only an hour away from home, but I have to be there at 7:15am. I hate running on less than 6 hours of sleep, but it should be a fun day: my first...

Giardia
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
The vet just called and said Giardia was found in Rory's fecal sample. I've read a few other posts about it, but I still have a couple questions. Can I get this from her? I'm pretty good about washing my hands after touching her, but certainly not every time after I pet her. Always before...

Smarter Than he Looks.....
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
One thing that I hear consistently about labs, especially chocolate labs, is that they're stupid, goofy, etc. What I've discovered about Jack, however, is that even though he may appear to be yet another goofy lab, it's just a front---he can actually be quite crafty.... Last night I brought...

Need Housebreaking advice
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Hi all, I need a little bit of advice on housebreaking a dog that I got a few weeks ago. He is a black-lab mix (predominately black lab) and is about a year old. I got him from the pound about 3 weeks ago, and I am having some problems getting him to stop having accidents in the house. When I first got...

Has anyone used these products? Opinions? Am considering adding this to Tyler's diet to deal with malabsorption problem. Am getting desperate and would prefer to stay away from Viokase (not to mention the huge price tag for it). Any suggestions are greatly welcomed. Trying to help my boy, Thanks...

Livesmart food

Has anyone tried the Livesmart brand of food that SmartPak Equine/SmartPak Canine have put out? SmartPak is fairly well known among horse owners for their convenient supplement packaging and they have recently branched out into dog food/supplements/etc. in the past year or so. They also carry Wellness...

I have a wee bit of a problem maybe. Sunday I took Cowboy (almost 6 months) to the dog park. We've been to the dog park before, but normally when we go there is only one or two dogs and he's fine with that. Well on Sunday by the time we left there was maybe ten dogs. He had a hugh problem with...
