Shout out to the pitties!
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I just want to say I have never really loved or not loved pitties. I've been honestly nervous around them because when I was 10 years old a pit/mastiff tore up my hand/wrist and needed 17 stitches- I was walking by a women w/ her dog on the side walk and the dog just grabbed my hand and wouldn't...

In honor of Harry turning 7 months old tomorrow, I took some pics of him this evening. He was 3 months and 18 pounds when we rescued him. Now he's 7 months and 48 pounds! My little boy is growing up so fast! Sorry if some of these are a little fuzzy. [IMG]http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh303...

Teaching my own classes
Posted to: Nutrition & Exercise
Positive Possibilities Dog Training is the name. Kennel manager has already OK'd it, and President of HS has been asking me for a long time to teach my own classes. Due to recent events of being kicked out/leaving my former training club, I've finally accepted their offer. I am hoping it...

Vaccinating and Titering...Just Curious
Posted to: Health & Grooming
So this is kind of a spin-off from the "Which Vaccinations" thread. I am curious if any of you who stop vaccinating after a certain age ALSO do not titer? It honestly never occurred to me to be an option, so I am just wondering if anyone does this. I have always thought of it as an either/or...

Aww, the thrill of bridging the species gap
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Yesterday I taught Kivi Tarro to sit with the clicker. The look in his eyes when he realised he knew what I wanted him to do and could do it and get a chunk of meat in the process was just a beautiful thing. If only he realised being locked in the pen is inevitable and resistance is futile!

Kivi Tarro looking less shell-shocked (corvus)
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Here you go. Kivi Tarro has been settling in and we haven't seen the shell-shocked look from our first night at all lately. He is a fierce hunter of leaves. And although Penny says she hates cry-baby puppies, she can be persuaded to tolerate them in special circumstances. You can't see it, but...

They've moved it up to this coming Saturday, May 31. The last two years it was usually the end of the first week of June. http://www.dogdaysdenton.com/ It's a dog friendly fair in Denton, Texas. Vendors, some breed rescues, I think. And it's in the same place as last year, I think....

Frontline Plus possible skin reaction
Posted to: Health & Grooming
I've had my dogs on Frontline Plus for 3 years and it seems like my Lhasa Apso is experiencing a skin reaction to it. I've noticed it over the last several months. The first time it left a scabby area between the shoulder blades that didn't go away for about 2 months. When it did finally...

A Nervous Pooper
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I have one nervous pooper on my hands. Not literally on my hands.... :) Everytime I take Cookie to the dog park, she has instant bouts of diarrhea. And I do mean instant. As soon as we get in the park, there could be 10 dogs or 1 dog...she's off pooping. And it's not like she goes once and...

Mindless Chatter - Wed
Posted to: News & Entertainment
The bad luck just keeps coming. They "fixed" my car yesterday for a grand total of $255. I said "You're sure that this was the problem?" "Positive". So I drive home, park the car and mill around the house. Dinner time comes and I don't feel like cooking so I throw...
