Choosing A Dog
My dog Zeus is a rescue, I got him from a shelter when he was 3 months old. I was told he was an Akita/Chow mix and never understood where his markings came from. Is Zeus part Tibetan Mastiff?? http://dbworld.s3.amazonaws.com/6046639_600.jpg Here is a pic of 3 young TM's http://www.breederretriever...

Flax Seed Oil Vs. Fish Oil
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
What is the difference between flax seed oil vs. fish oil aside from the obvious vegetable based vs. fish based? For the dogs, I've always supplemented with flax seed when dealing with skin issues. But, now I'm thinking more about fish oil. I've started taking fish oil capsules myself...

Spending limit on dog food.
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
What is your spending limit on dog food? I was checking some sites that sell dog food and gosh some of the dog food is ridiculesly priced IMO. The petstore that I buy dog food from only sells Wellness,TOTW,some Eagle Pack, Nature's Recipe, and then all the low quality dog food. I really want to try...

Traumatizing Tray?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
When we can't be with our puppy we crate him. A few days ago, my sister swept out the fur in the plastic tray in the crate. It's a wire crate so the tray can slide in and out. She forgot to lock the tray into the crate. Yesterday I came downstairs to let Tyson out and I found that half of the...

Supplements - what do you use, what do you like, what do you dislike...
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
For those of you who homecook or feed raw, do you routinely add supplements? If so, what? I've heard mention of BalanceIT supplement for vit and minerals, I've heard mention of giving your dog a human multivitamin, etc etc. I know many people add things like fish oil but I'm more talking...

Securing a outside stairwell
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
A wonderful family has agreed to adopt my fosters together, Bob (120lbs bullmastiff) and Vaughn (55lbs collie mix). They have a huge beautiful home. They kind of fibbed about how much of their backyard is enclosed with 4 foot high fence. But what concerns me the most is that they have a cement stairwell...

I am sure there are plnty of post on this subject but I can't really find one that answers all my questions. I am flying back home (Portland, OR) mid-march of next year for about a week. I am seriously considering taking Lex with me. I got him as a pup in Washington and think it will be really cool...

Raccoons? (updated w/ pics)
Posted to:

Some serious weirdness last night, and I'm guessing it was a raccoon... I went out last night got hom about 7:30 (after dark here) and I fed the dogs in their crates, thankfully, so I'm in the kitchen cleaning up when I hear some weird sounds, and I freeze and think it must be them in their...

washing a dog's head/face?
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I know dumb question but how do you do this safely? B hates water in his face and used to hate baths. He tolerates baths now but I'm not sure how to wash his face and the tops of his ears and the top of his head without getting soap in his eyes etc.
