No concept of personal space anymore/whining
Hey guys, T-Bone is NOT adjusting to me having a job, at all. It's getting sort of ridiculous. I usually put him out while I get dressed, otherwise he's all over me, in the way, etc. If I let him back inside while still in PJs, he'll come in. If he sees I have on work clothes, he lays...

oh the barking!!! gah
Lately this has been driving me insane. Zoey is really good in some areas and REALLY bad in the others. So what she does - when she's in the dog run on the northwest side of the house - when I walk onto the rest of the property, to walk out to the garden, to the garage, to the donkeys @ dinner time...

Potty Training When It's Raining
Tyson has been doing really well with the house training - until this morning. It's raining, and he refuses to use the bathroom outside! He just sits in the grass and whines or lunges on the leash for the house. So the end result is that he's soaked, I'm soaked, and the floor is soaked. Any...

Play or aggression?
Okay, so this post is more to vent, but any suggestions are welcome. I have a 15 month old malamute named Hugo, and I've posted about this issue before, but it's reared its ugly head lately, and I'm getting pretty frustrated. So, basically, the issue is that when I play in our backyard with...

Puppy Biting On Pant/Legs
I know the method of teaching a puppy better bite inhibition by saying "Ouch" or "AWRP!" in a high pitched voice as Patricia McConnell suggests... I even have a couple of great handouts by Dr. Ian Dunbar and Trish King on it. That does work for bare hands and arms. But what do you...

Anyone have the new Control Unleashed DVD? I dont have either DVD, I only have the book. Ive been wanting to get the DVD (The "Foundation Seminar" one) and I was checking out prices, and while I was looking on Cleanrun.com I saw there was another Control unleashed DVD (it says "New"...

Shih Tzu with anxiety, fear issues
Wow. I just read the thread about the Bishon with issues and can I relate! I bought my Tzu from a show breeder because I wanted to avoid "puppy mills" and backyard breeders. Ginny was 6 months old and the breeder said she was too small to show well so he was selling her. She was so cute that...

How Much Did Your Breeder Do?
I'm curious, among those of you who purchased a puppy from a breeder, how much socialization did your breeder do with your puppy before you took it home? Is this something you even asked about before you purchased your puppy? I ask because I have a friend who is a Lab breeder, and she really makes...

Sporting Dog Training - No E-Collar Needed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F41Vqo-Vdr8 Interesting to note, this dog is from Sweden. But, I know that in Wales and Switzerland e-collars are banned. So, it appears that the move toward positive gun dog training will continue. It's nice to know that some people are doing that without being forced...

Clicker training for jealousy and aggression?
I've got a great dog that listens to everything I say in the house, but as soon as there's other dogs around, it's all about them. I've learned what sets her off in the dog park, e.g. when another owner gives his/her dog attention, my dog simply must get in between. She's also not...

crazy when other dogs are next to her crate....
zoey has been exhibiting this behavior for awhile now. I did one clicker session to help with it, and it did help alot. but she still does it on a daily basis. If she's in her crate and and other dog or animal gets near it she has a melt down. barking and pitching a fit at the door trying to get...

most heartwarming thing your pet does
We all feel our pets are a major part of our lives (we wouldn't be reading this stuff if we didn't!) -- so I was wondering, if you could point to just one thing that your pet (dog, cat, or whatever) does that truly warms your heart more than anything else, what would that be? For me, I would...

Getting worried...
Ugh so Simba was being decent until today. I was just on a small walk with him and we were doing fine, but the second time I walked around the block he started jumping and biting at my sleeves and in turn getting my skin. He only seems to do this if I start walking in front of him. He growls playfully...

Housebroken pup won't go outside
So, I've had my pup for a couple of months now. I kept him inside as the vet advised until he got all of his shots. Once that was done he got neutered a week later. So I'm post-neutering less than a week at this point. Does anyone have any tips for transitioning a puppy from going on wee pads...

Tricks are NOT Useless
Sometimes, people get the mistaken idea that teaching your dog tricks is not "serious" training. For some reason, they think that "heel" is serious, but "put your toy away" really isn't. However, I like to think of training a trick the same way I think of training any...

Fun With Free Shaping
I do free shaping with Sequoyah a lot, because it keeps her mentally busy. Dr. Yin filmed a free shaping session with her cattle dog - which I'm posting for your viewing pleasure. Cute dog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0XuafyPwkg

Apartment to Military Base
Okay, before I ask my question I thought I'd include as much information as I could in order to get the best information. First of all, I am married to a soldier. He is currently living in shacks, and I am in a bachelor apartment in the city finishing my last semester of university. We should...
