Need a soft crate at 48 inches high
At least... Is such available? I need one for the van.... Its just containment- ie settledown and rest in a spot, and yes- it would be secured.

Ugh, please tell me it gets better!!
Housetraining, that is!! I take Dawbie (a 9 week old shih tzu mix pup) out not only every hour on the hour, it's more every 20 minutes sometimes!! And yet she STILL pees in the house. We are crate training her, so she goes in her crate when I can't supervise her, as well as during the night....

Teaching "quiet" crate manners and seperation anxiety
Echo is really, really attached to me. She is 5 months, prime time for a fear period. I crate her at bedtime, she fusses a bit. And then today I crated her for supper and man does she have a set of lungs on her! I waited it out until she was quiet once we were done eating. Now if I go out of the...

New Puppy Temparment Test
I'm thinking of bringing home a 4 month old puppy from the shelter to brighten up the lives of myself and my 10 year old Boxer. The shelter has this cute little Boxer/Shepard (but I think Boxer/Beagle) mix. I want to do some obedience work with this dog and be able to put a 100% recall on him. I...

crate training problems?
Hi, we have a ten week old Rotty/Newfie mix. Her name is Sophie. We've had her for about 3 weeks now and she's up to date on shots and everything. When we first got her we took her to the vet right away because we noticed that she had a very large and bloated belly. She didn't look like that...

Which option is better?
I'm hopefully getting a puppy in mid-November. Nikon was also a fall/winter puppy, a pain to housebreak in the dead of winter with all that darkness and snow, but so far all I've ever known (I had Ana in Dec.). With Nikon, I crated him while I was at work, and for the first month he got let out...

distraction - is this good or bad??
Pretty much since day one that Zoey was in the dog run she's had meltdowns everytime I walked away from the run - usually to go feed the donkeys. I tried the whole idea of rewarding her for quiet behavior and stopping when she barks etc. but so far it really hasn't had an effect ( probably my...

Moving into an appartment.
Currently I'm still living with my parents in their two-story house. We have a fairly big backyard and it seems very roomy for my two little Chihuahuas. Anyway, around the 17th I'm moving out .. and of course my babies are going with me. We're going to be moving into an appartment about an...

Lab chewing on backyard stucco
Greetings- hopefully I'm posting this in the correct area... We have a 4 month old male yellow lab who is doing well overall. However, he has chewed on a stucco beam in our backyard that is part of our house's rear wall. I can see the white styrofoam exposed and was planning on using a stucco...

Food Aggression in a Shelter Dog
I have a problem I want to present to all of you to help this dog so she can get adopted. Each dog at the shelter where I work is temperament tested before it is ever available for adoption. If the dog passes it is deemed adoptable and will remain in the shelter usually until it gets adopted....

Pan's driving me nuts!
OK it's not really that bad, but he just tired himself out from doing this high pitched squeal for the past hour and a half so I sort of have a headache. 95% of the time, Pan is awesome. He comes to work during the day and is fine in his kennel in the van. He's quiet and either sleeps or chews...

Help me help Chief (Georgie)
Chief is my foster, for those who don't know. He is just over two years old. He was surrendered to the shelter on Sept. 28 because his family of two years was moving. When he was temperament tested, he showed a bit of food aggression, which was worked with and I have seen no indication of at all...

Why use a crate?
Hello, lots of you are mentioning 'crates'. Here in Australia I don't know anyone who has ever used one, I used to work at a boarding kennel for dogs and nobody mentioned it there either so it seems like an American idea. Anyway, I just don't get it, why use one? What does it do...

How much growling is normal?
I've tried googling this online and I keep coming across bizarre advice and things about puppy development that I'm not sure are true and lots of alpha talk on how to handle puppy growling. So I wanted to ask here to find out your guys thoughts. First how do I handle any type of growling? Secondly...

Stop peeing in the basement, Argh!
I have a large, unfinished basement. I love it, its my doggy-play room. Completely doggy-safe, no rooms in the main area, just one large space. In the past, my four dogs could be down there to play with no accidents, all day. I crated them if I was going to give special treats like a Kong, but they...

Oh, the pee
Goose still has a pee issue. As you may recall, she had months of urinary issues (UTI coupled with puppy vaginitis). So, we expected that accidents could happen. Still tried to prevent them, obviously, but it wasn't a major concern and we figured it would clear up after her UTIs did. She's had...

reusable or disposable puppy pads?
we just moved into a condo, and while we take our pooch down for regular walks, sometimes it's nice to be able to let him out on the balcony where we have some puppy pads for "special" occasions. we currently buy eco friendly pads that are made from 85% recycled material, but i still feel...

New Puppy, little older, problems with house obedience
I've recently adquired a new pup, a little older than usual for me (6 months old). I bought this pup little older because it was a rare breed where I live (spain, griffon bruxellois) and I found the opportunity to buy him a little less $ than normal and I just wanted to have it so much! But now I...
