Schutzhund tracking
In the other thread Lani asked about good SchH tracking vids. This is what I've come up with so far... 12 month old. This is very nice. Denise has done an excellent job with the dog's foundation, I believe very similar to how I did Nikon (scent pads graduating to longer and more difficult tracks...

Kibble for a Dog Susceptible to UTIs/Crystals
This is for my Mom's dog, a 15 year old Shih Tzu currently on the mend from Lyme Disease and a UTI. She lost weight when the Lyme disease hit her hard and is now showing no interest in her kibble at all and is continuing to lose weight. She WILL eat her treats and other food my Mom hides her pills...

Grain Free Question
I've been feeding grain free forever now, avoiding corn and wheat, for itchy skin issues - but I'm wondering about oatmeal in their diet. It seems like it would be okay. I did add it to their crock pot chicken gruel I made this weekend and they loved it. I have to admit, it tasted really good...

Food Advice Needed
Hi everyone, I'm in need of advice on food recommendations for my Chi Roxy. Currently, she's eating Acana Pacifica mixed in with Acana Light & Fit. She's getting 1/4 cup morning and night, mixed with 1 tsp Wellness Wet food. Roxy had her yearly vet check yesterday and the vet is...

Eating weeds
Newt is a confirmed weed eater. she will go out and grab as many as she can, we scold her..she'll run off, then grab more. Yes, we do cut them down, but there are still little weed stubbles..it is a typical desert yard..mostly dirt, which apparently fosters growth of all the little weeds blowing...

Burping Dog?
My chowchow burbs quite often right after a meal, and will occasionally get the hiccups (not necessarily right after eating). It occurred to me that maybe her kibble gives her gas? Should I switch to something simpler than Eagle (now Holistic)? Like Chicken Soup or Cal Nat? Also been thinking about this...

Shark?
Weird question.... Can dogs eat shark meat? My uncle goes saltwater fishing often and he asked me if I wanted some leftover cuts of shark meat cause he knows I feed Bailey a raw diet. Ive never heard of anyone feeding shark meat to a dog, so I wasnt sure if I should give him any or not.

Our first rally trial is getting close!! (Update - Day 2)
Finn and I have entered our first ever rally trial for May 1-2. It is an AKC trial and its indoors, about an hour from where we live. I am soooo excited. I am having so much fun working with him and he is doing a fantastic job. Now, I know I'll lose some of that when we get in the ring (new place...

Raw feeding a pup?
I will be bringing my puppy home next week when he will be 8 weeks old. He is a Weimaraner. I would like to feed him raw. But I don't know if that would be the best choice. I've noticed several of you feed raw. Do you start your dog as puppies or when their full grown? Thanks for the info.

Eagle Pack Fish Dog Food Changes
I have been feeding EP Fish flavor dog food for almost a year, and it has been great for Pella. The last bag I purchased I noticed right away the kibbles were shaped smaller, and after a day or two of feeding, Pella is very gassy. And it has just gotten worst for her. Has anyone else noticed this or...

UTI Kibble
Layla has another UTI and the Dr and others have recommended KD for her. The problem is, it's not grain free and both my dogs have itchy skin issues. Can anyone recommend a grain free kibble that would also help with the UTI's?? Any diet suggestions regarding preventing UTI's would be appreciated...

Rally ratings?
Does anybody know where I can find them? I feel like Bean, running around in circles. I have searched the F&F website to the best of my ability (which sucks, OBTW!) and can't find anything. The obedience ratings are in the new magazine I got, yesterday, but I can't find rally ratings, there...

Nikon tracking
Here's a video of Nikon doing a short track today. It was damp and very windy. The cover is grass, clover, and dandelion cut very short. He is footstep tracking pretty well (nose could be a tad deeper but b/c of the water there's a lot of scent) and you can't really see from the video but...

What Dogs Remember
People who know me understand that I am so *not* in to competitive obedience. I had enough of competition on horseback in my youth. So, everything I do now is for the pure joy of training the behaviors, and for making other people happy during our therapy dog visits. Still, I have taught Sioux to do...

Wellness Stew
I picked up a can of Wellness Stew today. It only caught my eye, because it said GRAIN FREE in gigantic letters. Looking at the ingredients, it kind of reminds me of the Old Mother Hubbard chunky canned food. I tried to look up the Old Mother Hubbard canned but it's not on their website anymore....
