Eagle Pack Fish Dog Food Changes

I have been feeding EP Fish flavor dog food for almost a year, and it has been great for Pella.  The last bag I purchased I noticed right away the kibbles were shaped smaller, and after a day or two of feeding, Pella is very gassy. And it has just gotten worst for her.

Has anyone else noticed this or know of any changes they made to the formula?

I feel I will have to now search out another brand of grain free, chicken free dry food for her.

    Thanks

Recently EP was sold to the company that owns Wellness - I believe the new owner's name is Old Mother Hubbard.  Anyway, they stopped using the EP name - the old EP line is now sold under the "Holistic Select" label.  One of the pet food stores I shop at no longer carries the old EP line, saying that it "no longer meets their standards", but I wasn't sure whether the formula had changed or whether the store prefers not to deal with Old Mother Hubbard.  If in fact the product has changed, that's really too bad, because the EP fish kibble was one of the few foods that agreed with both of my pups.

The old Eagle Pack is now owned by WellPet.  They do own Wellness...and they do own Old Mother Hubbard also, along with Wellness.  The PSP by my house still sells one forumla of Eagle Pack..probably because someone requested it.  With the message boards and all the dog food websites out there...the old Eagle Pack probably can't compete anymore...after all many people think if your not feeding holistic....your not feeding good enough.

I have used EP for years...and I don't know that my Gibson was doing that swell on it..so I no longer use it for  him.   Lot of people on the Dane boards used it and stopped the past few years also. It seems to be that they changed their formulas but I had talked to John there not that long ago and he assured me that they didn't.

Once again, why can't they leave something good alone. I figure they needed to cut costs and did something to the blend.

Any suggestions for a grain free and chicken free dry. Other than the fish blends from  Wellness or Call of the Wild, both of those still cause a gas problem for Pella.

Thanks for the information, just proves it wasn't my imagination, something is different about it.

Seems that everytime a company gets bought out..they change their food, and it seems that EP is one of them. I feed Taste of the Wild, Prarie....but their formulas do have chicken in them.   Gibby is doing pretty good on it but he gets a probiotic supplement.   He has a weird stomach, I think it might be his high strung personality...but the one thing he doesn't have is gas.  I totally believe in the probiotic.

Some options might be Acana 3 Fish formula, Orijen Fish, Orijen Regional Red, Canine Caviar Venison/Split Pea, Solid Gold Barking at the Moon, and many of the Natural Balance limited ingredient formulas.  Best of luck.

I was going to suggest those too - I used Barking at the Moon for a while and am much happier with the Orjen.  Someone just sent me some info on an Innova red meat that is chicken free.  I would love to try the Orjen red but it has eggs - which my dog can't have either

I made it to the pet co op today, they carry alot of good brands of dry dog food, and they are really the only ones in our area that do.

They had none of the ones suggested, so I picked up Canidae Salmon and Potatoe.  I wll give this a try and see how it goes.  Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
