Silver labs?

I was reading lizziecollie's post about designer dogs, and I heard mention of silver labs. This is the first time Ive ever heard of them! I googled them, and they are certainly interesting looking dogs. How do they breed to get this color (just out of curiosity)?

I am growing tomatoes in my backyard. This is the 2nd time that I have seen some red ones, but not fully ripe, so I leave them on the plant. I adopted a puppy from the pound about 2 months ago. She was only 8 weeks old and they said that the next day she would be euthanized if no one adopted her in the next 24 hours. She was labeled as a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix and according to the people at the pound everyone saw "Rottweiler"...
