Hi everyone! I thought I'd move my dog stories to this area of the board since it's more fitting.
Our dog, Lady, had her vet appointment today. We were right, she
does have tapeworm. Not a good thing, really, but at least we know we're not crazy now. She got some meds and took the pill with a treat with no problem. She'll have to take another in a month just to be safe.
We also spent a little extra to have her tested again for heartworm, Lyme, blood parasites...etc...all negative! (Phew!) They gave us a year's worth of Heartgard and we can start her on that as soon as we'd like. We also got a chance to chat with the vet about the fleas...he said so far we've been doing everything right and that in a day or so we can start her on Frontline (we bought a 3 month supply.) He said that's their preferred product (as opposed to Revolution, etc.)
My big relief came when he checked out her teeth. He did agree one was cracked, but said it was not serious enough to warrant having to pull it. She is missing one tooth but there's no infection, etc. The rest of her teeth, he said, looked fine considering her age and he didn't see any decay!
Her weight was described as "perfect" for her size (yay, she's put on a little bit since we got her already and we thought she looked really good,) she got a rabies booster (she was due,) and they all agreed that she was extremely well behaved. Our vet commended us on taking her in and helping to clean her up. He also said she's healthy/vital/"young" enough that he would still consider her an adult instead of a senior dog.
So, all good stuff. I want to say thanks again to everyone who's read my ramblings over the last week. You guys have all been so nice! [
