Help - starving dog gets up way too early
Posted to: Training & Behavior
We have a nearly six year old puggle. She's a great dog, very affectionate, but can never get enough to eat. If given the opportunity, she'd eat until she explodes. We feed her dinner at 5PM, 1/2 cup of diet dog food. She starts begging for it at about 4PM, but we wait until 5. That's not...

Dogs learning from dogs
Posted to: News & Entertainment
My beagle puppies are only about 12 weeks old and have learned so much from interacting with my adult dogs. Though they really don't know their names yet, Velvet has learned to fetch a tennis ball by watching Roscoe bring it back and seeing how happy I am when he does that. The first time she chased...

Dog friendly places - small dog only - WHY?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Just curious as to why hotels and B&B's think that there is something terrible that happens over a certain weight. What is it all about? My dog is very well trained, would rather explode than go to the bathroom inside, has no interest in going on furniture or beds, has never chewed/destroyed...

Why do people bother?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Why do some people even bother getting a dog? What is it that they are seeking when they do so? A neighbor of mine aquired a dog about two weeks ago. She is a cross of what looks like a GSD and maybe a Keeshond or some type of sled dog. She is around 2 years of age from what they were told. Their...

retained baby teeth
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Zack is 6 months old and now has both his adult and baby canines. I went through this with Zoe too and I had the teeth removed at the same time she was spayed. With Zack I am waiting to neuter until he is a year old and I hate to put him under just to remove these teeth. Can I wait or do I need to do...

Are you supposed to cut the whiskers?
Posted to: Health & Grooming
It's funny, I've had this question on my mind on and off for a week. Then I saw Groomer Has It last night and it reminded me. I felt last week that Willow's whiskers had been cut--not completely off, but short. And, I didn't like them that way. But, aside from that- is this something...
