We just moved and i can't her to sleep
I have a 3 year old min pin and from the time I got her she has lived in the same apartment with 2 cats myself and my girlfriend. My girlfriend and I have since broken up and I just moved out with the dog. I understand it is a stressful time for her, but I can't get her to sleep at night. She just...

Arrrgh---JUMPING!!
Sally has always jumped on us a bit, but it is getting worse. In addition, as she is verry, verry slowly becoming less fearful of strangers, she is starting to jump on people who she decides are nothing to be afraid of. I don't want to yank her when she does it because I don't want her to start...

New Dog, Timid Dog
After the tragedy of losing Miko we have adopted another dog. I was so grumpy and bitter without one we went back to the same Humane Society on Saturday, talked to the same volunteer and came home with Misty. Misty is a one-year-old female German Shepherd mix, we think the mix is with Whippet as she's...

URGH!
I have so many problems with my dog, I don't even know where to start sometimes. LOL...I love her very much, but since I moved home and she has had access to a doggie door, her behavior has been insufferable. The biggest problem I'm having is that, if left unwatched for a matter of only 30 seconds...

Well, the subject says it all. I would like help and any info I can get about how to train dogs that already go outside to also use piddle pads. I have one that was trained to use the pads first. My others were not. I would like it if they knew to do both. Any ideas?????

Gobbles food really fast
My wife and I have an 8-9 month old lab mix. Overall, he's a great dog and about to start therapy school so I can bring him to the school where I teach and to the hospitals to visit children who are ill. The problem is that he eats so incredibly fast that he makes himself sick. We've tried limiting...

barking at people
My dog is 21 months, male, intact, probably Lab x GSD. He used to have issues dealing with other males (see Dog's dog in the archieve if interested , but is now OK with most of them. Recently, however, he has taken to barking and jumping around people in some situations. He seems suspicious of...

Training brags
I've noticed we have no real brags in here about things we've trained our dogs to do. We do have the weirdest thing, but, that isn't necessarily the best, or least not in my case. So, post whatever thing you've trained your dog to do that you feel is worthy of being bragged about in here...

Will she ever learn?
I have a nine month old JR. She is very smart! I have been working really hard to get her house broken. We put her in a crate when we are not home, and she has not had an accident in several months. However, it is a different story for the house. She has her "hot spots", regardless of what...

Using a bell..
Hi all, Wow, new everything! Weird.. Ok, I've been forgetting for TOO long now to get some bells, and really get this housebreaking done and over with. I went to the local arts and crafts store w/ H to get bells, and we found some jingle bells. The store is having a closing sale, and everything...

Maddi and her unwilling playmates
Well, it's been a few months, and Maddi has behaviorably gotten much better (I think I have too in my ways of dealing with her [ ]). While I wait for some of the stuff I ordered off of amazon, I was wondering if I could get any pointers to maybe getting her to stop chasing the cats so much? In...

afraid to drink from bowl
I have a 12 year old collie-shepard mix that was recently diognosed with a disorder that caused her to loose some balance and tilt her head. A week's worth of medication has helped. She is now doing OK, eating better, but REFUSES to drink from her water bowl?? She will eat snow, drink out of the...

crate issue
We're suddenly having a problem with our 3 yr sheperd/lab mix. Bogey's a rather large (106 lbs) dog who all of a sudden will not go into his crate. Since he was a puppy he has slept in the crate and that is the only thing we used the crate for. We really never had an issue with him as far as...

Urinating by water bowl
Blanco, my 3 year old non-neutered min. poodle. urinated by his water bowl today. I may have missed a signal while I was cleaning another room so that might explain why he urinated indoors. But in his own dining area? Why would he do that? He's had "accidents" before but not like this.

Prey Drive
Is there any way to stop a dog from chasing small animals? I was just wondering, because on walks, our puppy comes when he is called, and is pretty good at "leave it." I do not trust him off leash, though, because of his tendancy to bolt after squirrels and robins, etc., etc... The "chase"...

Hand feeding....
I looked at this website and watched the video clips. http://www.scaredydog.info/dvd.html On the first one she mentioned hand-feeding your dog. What is the purpose of this? I have just started feeding Sally one meal out of a treat ball and am considering hand feeding the second meal. I am going to buy...

won't leave litter box alone
I am sure it has been discussed before, but... I cannot get my dear pooch to stop eating the cats gifts . By this I mean the poo, not the wet stuff. My cat has to have her litter box on the floor and she won't use the type with a cover/lid. We have tried blocking the area off (he jumps over or...
