Stupid tricks
How do you teach a dog to jump rope? I saw a picture of it in a magazine and thought it would be a nice way to burn a little energy on a rainy day.

My Golden retriever, now 2 yrs old, has this strage habit.... he will not eat his own food all through the day, but when you pick up his leash to take him for a walk... he will pounce on his food and gobble it so fast, as though this is his last meal. This behavious has always puzzled me... any ideas...

Bringing in 2nd dog With Velcro Misty
Misty is my velcro dog. She loves me, and everyone in my family, and thinks we are the most delightful creatures in the world. There's a chance we may be adopting a 6 year old male toy poodle, described as calm in demeanor, as Misty is. I can't imagine Misty will be happy to share us...

Ok, I'm very annoyed now
Sam is starting to "velcro on" to me. I wouldn't mind, but he doesn't run with his friends at the dog park anymore in efforts to protect me, barks nonstop at guest, and wont let meget near anybody exept family. He is also starting to guard the house and bark every time somebody walks...

Oh no! First case of resource guarding with new rescue dog
We adopted Zoey last Saturday. My DH and I have taken off work all week to make sure that everyone is getting along (we have two other dogs, Tanker and Roxy). Things seemed just fine. We have even left the house for two or three hours and no one seems the worse for wear. I was very careful to keep everyone...

need tips for combatting the gsd herding instinct
Hi! My 2-1/2-year-old gsd male has a rather strong herding instinct; hence, when playfully excited he likes to go for your ankles/calves/knees. It frightens our toddler and annoys us (otherwise he's pretty darned wonderful!), so we'd like to get him to stop. Any ideas?

Dog & toilet
Hi all, I need your help & advice. We've got a young dog. She is 2 months old now. Once I saw in the TV (Animals Program) a dog climped onto inhouse toilet to poop. I wonder if we ourselves can train our dog with the same, and how? Anybody can advice me on this? Thanx in advance. ...

Why is she eating wood?!?!
I really am at my wits end!!! I don't know what to do, Keva (my 13 month old female) is destroying any wood she can get her mouth on. She even eats treated wood (our porch and my mother in laws kitchen chairs) aside from the every day sticks. If she is left alone for 20 minutes it starts, and it's...

It's not working or it's getting worse . . .
Ok, I posted this situation a couple months ago and either I'm doing it all wrong or . . . or I don't know. Caesar goes crazy when he sees a squirrel. Either inside the house looking out the window, or while we are on walks. If he's looking out the window and he sees one, his lips pucker...

Housetraining w/ Resident Dog in the House
We're getting a 2nd dog today that's about 1.5 years old & has never been housebroken. We have a resident dog, alpha female, that's 7 years old. We know all the rules of housetraining, having gone through it w/ our resident dog. However, I'm a bit concerned as to how our resident dog is going...

obsessive humping
I have a 13 1/2 year old male Standard Poodle and a 4 1/2 year old male Miniature Poodle. The two have been living together quite well (only minor jealousy) until the past 2 months or so. The Miniature has developed a habit of obsessive humping of the Standard. The Standard is in very good physical condition...

This is my first post here, so I hope I can get some help, and will be able to retrieve any answers I do get! I have been taking classes with my seven-month-old wheaten terrier. We try to practice on the driveway. He has been doing well over-all, but often when we start our sessions, he stares off into...

Another Indy issue
Ok..Indy came to us at 5 1/2 months. When we first got him he showed aggression to us (husband and me) whenever we tried crate him for the night. Usually he was sleeping and I called him to kennel; he sat up and just stared at me; if I grabbed his collar, he bit my hand or arm. Because he is very treat...

Housebreaking rescue dog
Any tips on housebreaking a rescue dog? She lived in a pen in a barn since the age of 6 months, and is now about 14-15 months old. She has no experience in being a house dog. The rescue folks let each of the 40 dogs out in a play yard for about an hour a day, and take them for walks as time permits....

He is The Boss
Am I doing this right?
I am working on a bad habit of Gracie's and I want to know if I am on the right track. Grace has a bad habit of reaching out with her paws and "slapping" you on the arm if you reach to touch and pet her face (sometimes she uses both front legs and wraps them around my arm). She gets...
