Hello!! I am new to this board and very thankful I have found it. I have a 3 month old shi poo that has been on Science Diet since he could eat. My question is is there something else I should feed him? I am not sure about this food and didn't know how healthy it was for him.
We are still in the "training" mode (sometimes I wonder when it will get better). At first he did great with a puppy pad now he just ignores the puppy pad and pees where he wants. Sometimes it is just a small place (like the size of a nickel).. I am new to this and have no idea what I am doing wrong.. I was thinking about just doing the puppy pad training (I have a friend that did this and loves it, my son has very bad allergies and it was recommended to us not to let the dog go outside and bring in grass/etc...) I am going to post this on the training link and the nutrition because I need help on both food and training!
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might be doing clean up for a while since you've been using the pads, but I would suggest not using them anymore and going with crate training instead. All you're doing right now is telling your puppy that it's ok to relieve himself in the house.

Just saw the part on the allergies...in that case, I'm not sure.

If it's just a little bit of pee, then I would head to the vet to rule out a UTI. A small amount would indicate that since generally there is a feeling of needing to go, but nothing's really there. At least, it is that way with humans.

First off, this has nothing to do with Science Diet. Secondly, as someone mentioned above, having a dog regularly eliminate inside is something many find a bit problematic. However, the first thing you ought to do is check with a vet for an infection. Then, if you must have the dog routinely eliminate inside, and the dog is healthy, the potty-training works essentially the same way as it would go for dogs that have to go outside. Lastly, at 3 months of age you can expect some accidents to happen, but you should make sure that this does not become a bad habit - or you will be in for a tough time later on. So check with the Vet, then start some dilligent potty training right away.

Kind of an aside but is your son also alergic to the dog? If he is please note that the allergens are carried in the saliva and the urine. My son is allergic so I would rather battle the little bit of grass seed that comes in the house than the puppy pee. Also how do you plan to exercise this pup if you never take it outside?
