    Training brags

I've noticed we have no real brags in here about things we've trained our dogs to do. We do have the weirdest thing, but, that isn't necessarily the best, or least not in my case. So, post whatever thing you've trained your dog to do that you feel is worthy of being bragged about in here. I'll start with a little Max brag, which is not a big brag because he's not done learning it yet.
Wednesday night in a case of extreme boredom, I decided to teach Max how to spell his name. I started that night with M, and it didn't take long before he could correctly select M when I put out both M and X. The next night we worked on A, and then put A showed him both A and X. Last night, Friday, I was having him go up and down the stairs, putting the A or M on one side, and the X on the other, and having him touch the M or the A, whichever I was using at the time. I just moved them up and down one step at a time as he got it, so it was a combo of training and workout. Then I started chaining touch M, touch A, which he got correct about 90% of the time. Next step is to teach him X, and pretty soon we'll put all 3 together, and hopefully have a little video to show everyone of Max spelling his name.

Can Max spell his name now?  That truly is a neat trick!  What are you using - blocks or paper etc??  I hope you have a video soon!

Hmm...I can't think of an equally amazing brag about Dodger.  At least nothing out of the ordinary.

He's not all the way there yet, but he can id all the letters now. So now we've gotta work on getting a chain a solid chain of M A X, and then changing the command to name. I'll just say the whole phrase and really emphasize the word name at the end. I'm using pieces of paper pinned to the wall. I'll try to get my sister to make a video of him doing it as he can so far.

(and totally aside, I thought this thread said "training BRAS" and I wondered if a dog had eaten one. :)

My latest training feat was teaching little Winston that the toss pillows in the living room are not stuffies.

Next I'll be working on teaching him that the grout between the tile in the kitchen is not a bone for him to try and dig up and chew on.

And when you're done that, maybe you could come here and teach Max that the bookshelf is not full of tasty things for him to munch on.
