General retraining of older dogs
I recently brought in two stray dogs. They were obviously from a previous home which trained them decently, however one of them still has problems. They are both around 8 or 9 years I believe. One is a beagle and I think the other is some kind of beagle mix. Anyway, the beagle tends to still relieve...

Head on my foot
My pup likes to sleep by my feet while I sit on the couch. When he does this he usually rests his chin on my foot. While I really like this, I was wondering if this behavior is affectionate or some sort of sneaky dominance. I know that if a dog leans on you or puts a paw on you this is a way of establishing...

Suggestions for 8 mo Westie snapping
We have 3 Westies - a 9yr old, 4yr old and a 8 month old puppy who is starting to show aggression when she sleeps on our bed at night. When my husband comes to bed after we are all sleeping she snaps at him when he tries to move her. She is not food aggressive just acts weird when she is in our bed.

Stray Puppy
Hi everyone, my name is Keith, I recently adopted a dog (Friday was my first day with her). Her name is Mya and she's 4 months. I have a few questions/concerns. The dog was bought in as a stray and it was the first day she was there (so no one knows much about her), but I fell in love with her instantly...

toys with 2 dogs
hello all, I have 2 puppies. A 10 month old female aussie shep, and a 4 month old male aussie shep. Right now, whenever deunan wants to play with a toy, be it to chew on a bone - play fetch. Aydins mission in life is to take it away from her. Play with it for 5-10 seconds then forget about it....

Woohoo - Progress!!
We have been working really hard on some resource guarding Wesley does... He is fine with things he just picks up, you can take them right back - but once he is chewing something, he would perceive it as his, and if it was good enough, he would growl if we tried to take it. So - we started working on...

MY DOG WON'T STOP WHINING AND CRYING WHILE ON LEASH!!!
Hello Everyone! New here so go easy one me. My wife and I recently rescued a smooth-hair collie lab mix from the SPCA and have had a wonderful time with her so far. We currently have very little background on our baby and don't know where she came from or where she's been. However, we...

Need advice to save my dog's life
My family's 11 year old dog has never shown aggression to anyone or bit a person in his life. Until yesterday when my 16 month old niece yanked his tail. He bit her face sending her to the ER where her eyelid was glued back together. My niece is fine but my dog is in quarentine at the kennel. My...

How I wish I'd taken a picture!
I was in the kitchen making dog food earlier and the dogs were in and out as usual. Happened to glance out the kitchen window and Thunder was standing there with a CAT FOOD bag stuck on his head! It was hysterical! So out I go and the second he heard me he tried to get to me, but the poor guy kept walking...

The Crate....the stupid crate...
Hey everyone. My roommate and I have had our border collie / rottie mix Makenzie for about 8 weeks now (she's 14 weeks old). For the first 3 weeks, since we didn't have a crate, we decided to just confine her to the kitchen at night, and when we absolutely had to leave her alone (we're...

Extreme Seperation Anxiety
I have had Sphinx, a one year old Pit Bull-mix, since December '05... I got him as a stray and am pretty certain that he was abused before I rescued him (or should I say, we rescued each other) because he was extremely nervous around men and would cower whenever anyone made any sudden movements....

Is adolescense (my dog is a teen in dog years) to blame
This is my first dog, and we have had no problems at all until now. However, now at night, he starts to bark continuously for fifteen minutes straight every night around the same time, despite there being no other dogs barking. My best bet is that as he is a few days more than a year old, he is entering...

Husky Mix pup. Very Smart except when it comes to housetraining
Hey folks, I just got a new Husky-mix pup. He's 2.5 months old, totally great. I've had him for just over 2 weeks now. He's very smart-- was sitting on command after 24 hours, shaking after a week, and can now distinguish between play and rest time and has not gone after any furniture...
