Hello,
I have two dogs, both basset hound - lab mixes, brother and sister adopted almost one year ago from the pound. They are both almost eight. One male (Theo) and one female (Rudy). They are both neutered.
We recently began allowing our dogs into the living room after they proved to us that they were not going to mess on the carpet. They had previously been locked in the kitchen or outside. Well, Rudy does not seem to know the difference between carpet and grass!! She pees on the carpet almost every time we let them in the living room. We
always take them out before they are allowed in the living room, but inevidably Rudy will pee on the carpet! I've tried all the tricks I know to housebreak her. I've never had to housebreak older dogs before; I've always raised dogs from puppies.
Is she a lost cause as far as housebreaking? I really want my dogs to be able to spend time in the house with me, but I also don't want to have to replace my carpet!!! Has anyone faced this problem before? If so what did you do??
