Bad Handling(conformation)
Hi, This is my first time posting here, I look forward to getting to know the group. I was starting this post as sort of an "educational" thread. I am a new junior owner handler of a Kuvasz. We're working toward an AKC championship. We already have the UKC championship and one UKC Best...

Agility-- how old is "too old"
Since I've come to the realization that I won't be able to get a new dog for several years, I think I may be able to at least play in agility with either Darby, who is 8, or Lexi, who is 10. Now, technically they are both 'seniors' but they are both very resiliant, peppy, know basic obedience...

New puppy is a picky eater...
I just recently adopted a black Labrador mix from a shelter this past Friday. He's all of 5 pounds at 7.5 weeks old. Over the weekend he started vomiting, having diarrhea and stopped eating anything, but would still drink water. He had roundworms in his stool. He's since been put on Flagyl, Albon...

4Health at TSC
I actually got some for Gobie because his poo is even worse on BB. It has beet pulp in it = which I want to help firm up his stools. I talked to the sales guy about it and he says it's thier house brand made by diamond. The ingredient panel is nearly identical to Diamond Naturals. Thought I'd...

Senior dogs: More Frequent meals?
As you know, Gobie (14) has been having issues with poop. Soft mushy mucousy poo. On BB fish/potato he's been doing better. The poops are smaller than on PetGuard. No mucous on them either. Seems to be working well for him! I have never had a senior dog but I am wondering if I went up from...

Grain free and large breed puppies?
So, im trying really hard to learn all of this dog nutrition stuff, and it seems like everytime i think i understand something, i learn somewhere else somthing that contradicts it! So, my question is, is grain free, such as Wellness Core, or Blue Wilderness, OK for a largebreed puppy? Heres my deal specifically...

When feeding a puppy?
Do you give them a certain amount at a feeding or fill their bowl up and let them eat till their full? I feed Keeper a cup of food 3 times a day. But he acts starved every time I feed him. I hand feed him his supper because I do training with him then. He also gets a frozen chicken wing with lunch and...

Allergies?
My dads dog Jack has started having some issues with his ears. Hes constantly shaking his head, and scratches at them all the time. They are a little dirty, but not bad. They do NOT smell bad at all, just like "normal" ear smell. They dont look red, theres no slimy waxy stuff, theres a little...

Scent discrimination question
I want to teach Bailey scent discrimination. His nose is always glued to the ground sniffing or following a trail, so it would be a good "job" for him. We are BOTH going crazy from the cold weather and being stuck inside. Teaching tracking isnt really an option because we're stuck inside...

large breed puppy - suspected pano - what to feed?
This is for someone on another board who has a 3 old BMD who may have pano and may have the beginnings of other joint issues. She is wondering what kibble would be best - I thought that large breed pups need moderate protein levels and should not be on grain free. Is that right? If so what would you...

Switching foods
I was just looking for some thoughts on this subject and what you may all think is a better food for a cocker spaniel. I'm always hearing things regarding breed specific/size specifics and was just wondering. They are currently eating Oven Baked Tradition, which they seem to be doing alright on but...

Training for compitition without a class
Does anybody else train their dogs without the benifit of a class situation? My job (industrial electrician), and home life (rural) makes it very difficult to find any obedience/rally classes, or stock dog trainers either, for that matter. I enjoy competing, and do manage to get titles on my dogs, but...

Cat Food - Raw, Canned or Kibble? (NDR)
Let's talk cat food. My male cat developed chronic urinary crystals years ago and my vet told me to feed him a low magnesium food, which turned out to be Hills Rx, c/d (before I knew anything about good pet food). We have been feeding our cats this food for years, and yes, they don’t get...

Other Chunky canned foods?
besides Merrick? Rory loves the Merrick canned as toppers on her dry food (not merrick) and I know it's only because it's chunky like our food. I do have a bit of hesitation feeding the merrick because of the quality issues, but I don't know what else to give her. Any suggestions?

Latest Topper Batch was a hit
I use a small crockpot and simmer it all day or all night, depending when I ran out of hte last batch. Today's batch was 1lb ground beef, 1 small sweet potato, 1 handful baby carrots. 1/2 cup water. Then a few shakes of cinnamon. Wow, it smelled great! Then after at least 6 hrs, I mash with...

which one, please help
Yes, I am crazy. I've been so stressed out trying to find the "right" fish oil or fatty acid supplement for my 5 year old, 31 lb. cocker spaniel. You are all so knowledge and I really value your opinions. So out of the 4 I have listed here, which one would you use and why? Also, what does...
