    Other Chunky canned foods?

besides Merrick? Rory loves the Merrick canned as toppers on her dry food (not merrick) and I know it's only because it's chunky like our food. I do have a bit of hesitation feeding the merrick because of the quality issues, but I don't know what else to give her. Any suggestions?

Happy Hips and Vitality by Dogswell are chunks in gravy style, grain free foods. They have them at Big Lots for 50 cents a can, here!! My girls  LOVE them. Wellness, Nature's Variety, and Evanger's also offer chunks in gravy style food.

Old Mother Hubbard makes a whole LINE of chunky stuff, but I've heard their quality is going downhill as well. Chunky is hard because what they used to use to bind it into chunks (wheat gluten, usually) was a part of the recall hub bub.

If you *really* want my opinion, if you're just making a topper, throw a few things in the crockpot. A little fish or chicken, a chunk of potato, and a few veggies goes a LONG way in making a happy dog : )

Best chunky recipe, grab all the manager specials in the meat department, debone but leave all the skin, add some guts(liver, kidney, heart) add a jar of veggie baby food, a couple spoonfuls of fish oil, toss, mix, cover and cook overnight and you got yourself a healthy chunky meal without much work or expense.

I recommend this ultra simple recipe for folks that refuse to feed raw and want a healthier alternative. Not perfect, but certainly better than kibble imho.

We're using that right now, too - although I paid $2.49/can at Petco.  Geez.  I gotta find a BigLots around here! lol

(I wouldn't feed my worst enemy's dog Merrick canned, after all the stuff people have found in the food.)

I got PetKind last time I was there. It's not chunky, but my girls really don't care, LOL. It was 75 cents a can, STILL a steal, if you ask me!

You can often find nifty canned foods at Big Lots...I go there just to browse the pet section :p  Not long ago they had Canine Caviar for 75 cents.. some sort of tripe, turkey and beaver.

Damn... how come none of the Big Lots where I live ever get good stuff like that. So far the best thing I saw there was Dogswell and there was only 1 case left and I went to 6 different stores !!  :(
