CHF - Update 6/23/09
Maghee was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure yesterday. She's already on Lasix & Vetmedin. We have an appointment with a cardiologist on Monday & will be looking into acupuncture later. I have no clue what grade failure she is but I suspect from my reading that she's about a...

Rabies vaccine--Willow
Hi guys. I've been doing my own research but I'm not really getting anywhere here. I've been trying to figure out the best way to deal with this. Willow's rabies booster is going to expire this month. And, she's had one bout with immune disease already so will not be re-vaccinated...

Rose's Wart-anything else to do? Calling Callie!
I took Rose to the vet Friday and had the wart on her eyelid removed. The vet didn't seem to think it was very deeply rooted so removed it right there. Is there any homeopathic type remedy I can put on the area to help keep it from coming back. The vet said he doesn't think it will but there...

Lung Problems
My 7yo lab Chanel had Kennel cough as a puppy, it was so severe when we got her that curing it proved almost impossible. Until she was about 6 months she had repeated Kennel Cough like 'attacks' for a while which left her with permanent lung damage. Her lungs didn't grow along with her...

Ellie made it
thru the OFA process with a Fair on her hips. I am most pleased. I was worried because I got her xray done, and then she came into season (Cleo's fault, totally)...which is known to mess with the results, and not to the good! But we got a number and a rating so I am happy with that. All 3 of my...

Stained Fur- Food Reaction?
Dreamer has recently developed these ugly reddish stains on her belly (where the hair is thinnest) and under her 'armpits'. These cant be enviromental stains as she very rarely goes outside and besides her feet are white as snow. Also, she is getting stains around her mouth. I switched almost...

How long does ACL repair last in a dog?
My 11 yr. old cairn had to have both knees done as he tore the ACL when he was 2 yrs. old and then the other one 8 months later. I took him in for his annual check up two days ago. The vet who did both surgeries is on vacation so a different one saw him. She said one of his knees felt "bubbly"...

Good vibes for Kaiser, please?
I'm not sure where to post this, the health section looks different. Mods, move if you want. Anyway, i'm really worried about Kaiser. Pretty much his whole life he's kind of had "poop issues". He's always had difficulty pooping, but i never though much of it- figured it was...

Random Symptoms - UPDATE last post
One of my parents min-pins Brutus should be healthy as a horse, as they say. His second b-day is in August. He's not acting well and I just wanted to bounce a few ideas off of members here. For several weeks I've noticed he's carried his ears wierd, always has had very perky upright ears...

Small Wart on Eyelid
Rose has a tiny wart type thing on her upper eyelid. It is very small maybe 2mm. It is skin color. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. Has anyone seen this before. I'm going to take her to the vet this week. I was going to make an appointment for Friday because I have to go to Stillwater anyway...

Meds for anxiety? I really need help....
I've been putting this off for so long. While we've made great progress with Kenya, at the same time I've learned some things about her temperament that haven't changed a bit and likely will never change. At this point there's really no point in guessing *why* she is the way she is...

imha disease
Please read my article written in May 2009 about my border collie Rosie. I am interested in knowing whether any of you think a urinary infection could have triggered the horrific disease. Thank you, Carol (pen name Elie).

Rabies vaccine only?
I can't believe that as long as I've been here, I have to ask this question, but here goes. DH had Sassy at the vets this morning for her post-op check. DH doesn't like to make decisions about this kind of stuff, so I got a call from a vet tech and she said Sassy was due for her distemper...

Skin greasyness/flaking in older dogs?
I have a 14 year old bichon, she's always been a healthy dog aside from some bad food allergies. We have her on an allergy formula now, but within the past year we've had a new problem pop up. The vet doesnt know what it is. She has what looks like overreactive glands? Its around her neck completely...

Did Ivermectin for mange cause epilepsy that killed this dog?
I fostered a german shepherd with mange for 6 months. She was adopted and now a year later she died of epilepsy. She had mange REALLY bad (demodectic I think) - the non-contagious kind). She lost 1/2 of her fur and was scabby all over. The Shelter vet had me give her Ivermectin orally. I'm trying...
