Huey is limping
I don't know what is wrong with Houston. He started limping on Wednesday on his front left paw. We have been giving him an 81 mg aspirin per our friend who is a vet tech. She said if it isn't improving to take him to the vet on Monday. His limp kind of comes and goes. He doesn't seem to be...

Official Diagnosis....
Maze's biopsy came back as a Grade 2 Mast Cell Tumor on the low-intermediate scale. The vet recommends a regime of strong anti-histamines and the wait and see method. The funny thing is Maze has been on anti-histamines for so long that the vet feels it played a large part in the growth (or lack)...

Iverheart Recall
I read yesterday that the heartworm preventative Iverheart was recalled due to low potency issues. Yikes! That is a bit scary for us in SE Texas. Back to Heartguard we go.

What the HECK is this?!?!?
This morning I rolled Kenya on her side to trim her back nails and was surprised to find speckles on her skin near her back nipples. They look like tiny blood blisters or flea dirt. You can't see in the pics, but a few are white/greenish like human zits and a few of those appear to have "popped"...

Look for a new vet or stay and risk it again?
I lost my oldest boy who was 13 and was in pretty good health. He wasn't showing any signs of illness until last week when he wouldn't eat which right away signaled something was up. Kept drinking lots of water and vomiting so I took him to his vet the next day. Vet kept insisting it was something...

Booster vaccinations for older dogs
Up until last year Poppy has had her regular boosters - for things like parvovirus and distemper. And now I am being reminded by my vet that they are due again - overdue in fact. Frankly I am concerned about overloading her system - seeing as she has chronic bronchitis and the latest blood test revealed...

Laser Therapy for wound
Abby had her surgery today. She came through it fine so far, she is resting over night and will come home tomorrow afternoon. They told me her tendon was completely ruptured. (not sure what that means - completely torn apart or completed pulled or riped) Now they want to follow up with laser therapy...

Tick Bites
We've got bugs bad this year. Fleas, ticks, mosquitos, the works. Zeke gets advantix, but even so in the last two weeks has picked up a couple of fleas (that was all, thankfully; no infestation!) and a couple of ticks. One of the ticks was attached already when I found it. I don't think it was...

Any Suggestions to Help an Old Dog?
My cousins dog, Ginger, is a 15yr old chow-mix who over the last 18 months has become very weak in her back legs/hips. She has lost a lot of muscle tone in has difficulty getting up and walking. The vet did a full senior work up on her and put her on tramadol less than a year ago. Speaking with my cousin...

Abby's Leg
I am posting this here, because they don't know yet what it wrong. They mentioned Patellar luxation or Torn Cruciates. Abby showed no signs of pain all the while they were moving her leg and trying to get a reaction. She won't relax enough that the vet could get a good look at the joints. So...

Ticks
I guess I am wondering about the diseases carried by ticks other than lymes. Abby our 8 yr old little dog, was not acting her normal self I would say for a week, we didn't give it much thought. Figured she was just being her moody self. But then she wouldn't eat and was throwing up (now she has...

Stool Not Right
It has been 2 weeks now, and Freida is still having unusal stools, when she goes it starts out fine but at the end it turns mushy and mustard colored. I took a sample to the vet and it checked out fine, I have her on probiotics (blue gel) and I have been giving her rice, I don't know if I should...

Canine Bronchitis - eucalyptus oil for use with vapourizer?
I've been advised that steam therapy might be good for my dog's chronic bronchitis. And that adding something like Olbas oil might help. In fact I've heard that eucalyptus oil can be particularly helpful. But it seems there are different kinds. Has anyone used eucalyptus or any other oil...

Degenerative Myelopathy
My grand-dog has been diagnosed with degenrative myelopathy. He is 14 years old and otherwise healthy. He still wants to play. Pretty much dragging his rear legs around; especially the right. We are looking for anyone or anything that will educate in the care of dogs with this condition. Have found...

Results are in...
Maze has a mass cell tumor on her chest. While it is not bengin, it's not cancerous yet (whatever that means). The vet says that because Maze gets antihistamines daily, it'll buy us some time to get her bloodwork done... The vet has some friends who specialize in sedation and she's gonna...
