Why do they say that pure breeds are weak?
ive heard many people bragg about their mix breeds. i have one of my own but why do they say the mix breeds are stronger and smarter. at first i thought it was just their way of boasting but when more people say it i wasnt so sure. ?? Lainey

Border Collie Mix?
A friend of mine adopted Happy from the Humane Society on Tuesday. Happy is a 3 year old male and a very sweet and timid dog. She was told that he was a Border Collie mix by the HS. What are your opinions?

mixed breed ID and photo library
I am assembling a “mixed breed identification blog” at http://www.mutthut.blogspot.com. And I am inviting shelters, rescues, and dog owners to contribute photos and breed guesses. Please let me know if you plan to contribute so I can add a link to your organization (if applicable). I decided to start...

Dogue de Bordeaux question.
Isn't the Dogue de Bordeaux also called the French Mastiff? Also, how do you pronounce Dogue de Bordeaux?

Look at the Neapolitan Mastiffs' cheeks!
The cheeks of a Neapolitan Mastiff are sooooo droopy! I've never seen anything like them! They are so ugly, they're cute!

Need some breed suggestions
Hello everyone, My girlfriend and I are looking to get a dog in the coming spring. Right now we are doing research to find a breed that is right for us. The problem is, she wants a small dog, ie. Yorkie, Dachsund, Corgi, while I want a "normal" sized dog, ie. Lab, German Shephard, Rhodesian...

Help in identifying breed for shelter
I'm attaching pictures of Rocky, who is at the Clarke County Animal Shelter in Berryville, VA. There is some discussion as to his breed, can anyone help? It will mean a great deal of difference because the shelter cannot adopt out pits or pit mixes, but some think he is American Bulldog. He is large...

More of my foster
Okay, here are a few outside of his crate. Kind of hard to get them as he doesn't stay very still....between him and Gus the border collie, they have a chasing good time. The one photo is blurry but you can see how his tail curls over his back. One of my main reasons for thinking he has something...

Appropriate breed/breed mix for my family?
My dad has decided that he wants a second dog (I think he misses the house full of pets that my sister and I severely demolished when we moved out with all of them except for the fish and the one dog). We've started looking at PetFinder, and I can't decide what kind of dog might be best to look...

daschund and...
My friends have a daschund mix, but they don't know what he's mixed with. He's about a year and a half old, and incredibly fast. He gets along with his 'pack' (the usual dogs at the park including mine) but goes crazy (in a bad way) when he sees any other dog. That's probably...

Basenjis!
Does anyone on here own Basenjis? I'm not looking for one or anything - just interested in info! Do they really tend to be better for people with allergies?

Odd Combo
We were out Christmas shopping and met up with some lady walking the cutest puppy. It was from a shelter - and she swore it was a cross between a Pit Bull and a Silky Terrier! Hmmmm. All I know is the little bugger was the cutest thing. He had a ;ittle Pittie face and coloring, but slightly wiry coat...

Kelpie??
Okay, so, I've had Cherokee for 7 years. I've always called her a lab/chow mix. That's what she looks like to me. Then a couple weeks ago I see a picture of a dog (I think it was on here, but I'm not sure) that looks a lot like Cherokee but with *** ears. I find out it's an Australian...

Irish Setter "Windy"
Windy, the Irish Setter that won the Phili Dog Show's best in breed lives about five minutes from me, here in Ohio. She's a beautiful dog, but I was wondering about the length of her neck. I don't know much about Irish Setters, but her neck seems quite long. The AKC site says that the neck should be...

What breed do you think? Pit? Collie? Shepherd? All?
I found Arlo ouside his human's house eating out of a dumpster with his siblings and mom. Mom looks EXACTLY like Murray from MAD ABOUT YOU (the TV show). The littermates looked like Arlo, more or less. one was smaller and fluffier, another was larger and smoother (looked EXACTLY like a boxer...

Okay...was he lying about the breeds?
Okay. The more I look at the new puppy, the less I believe that the guy selling them was telling the truth about the parents. He said they were boxer/amstaff. He had a male boxer and a female staffie with him, but he had a couple of other dogs too (all of which were, from what I could see, bully breeds...
