I had a bf in high school, his mother had one and I took my lil brother, Thomas who was 5 at the time to go see him. The dog had never really been around kids and (ha ha sorry I laugh just remembering) for some reason he assumed he was to be Thomas's protector and would try and sit on him and heard him, it was hilarious. So they are in the other room playing and we hear Thomas's lil cute voice saying "sis, sis help" We walk in to see this dog full on laying on my brother, she had him pinned, all we could see was the top of hid head under her chest and a lil arm sticking out the side. She was trying to shower him in kisses but was being SO pushy about it. Would you guys believe that someone acually walked into our animal shelter off the street and surrendered one of those a few months ago?!?! My jaw was on the floor. There's so much wrong there I don't even know where to begin! Fortunately, a neo rescue was notified and came to get the poor guy. This was in fact the same neo rescue that the people who surrendered him got him from, but they were too lame to actually return him to the rescue. I think they were ashamed (and rightly so!) and thought if they brought him to us they could get rid of him and no one would be any the wiser. The couple was about to get married and consolidate households and they had too many pets all together. So one had to go and apparently this neo had made some growly noises over his food dish to one of the other dogs, and he was the biggest and slobberiest, so he pulled the short straw. Sure it would have taken a couple months but isnt that better than dumping the dog at a shelteR?   If you are going to get rid of your dog, PLEASE find them a good home on your own, there is no sense in surrendering them to the shelter where they could possibly be euthanized and at the very least be extremly discomforted and stressed out.
