emotional pooping
So...I got my dog as a puppy from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. When I got her she had a broken tail and a broken spirit. She was an emotional wreck - she was territorial, didn't like other dogs, people, kids ...nothing! Over time and lots of training and love, she's become an amazing...

Large Puppy Tormenting Adult Pug
Our pug is 3 years old. He is in good health and a great, even tempered dog. When we brought him home a puppy we had a 3 year old Lab. The pug and the lab became great friends. They would rough house all the time. The pug would hide and jump out on to the lab and play attack her. The lab would roll on...

Defensive Pyr
Meridian Georgia New Member I have a 7 year old male Great Pyrenees (neutered) whom we adopted at the age of 4 from a shelter. He has repeatedly displayed defensive--not aggressive--behaviors. Specifically, he will snap at us if we try to groom him (but only...

Dog growling and snapping when approached by dogs in "her space...
I've been having issues with my 50lb lab/dal mix, Alex, who is protective of her space with other dogs. I used to do dog rescue/adoptions and we had lots of smaller dogs in the house which she would play with and live with and be fine with unless she was under a chair or in a corner or in what she...

Leash Reactivity....
EDITED: (I reread this and noticed it sounded sloppy. Let me try again lol.) Okay, I'm in need once again for those of you here to help me if you can! I'm not sure if anyone here has experience with fearful or reactive dogs but I need help. Diesel was fearful when he first came to me and still...

hates white cat=hates white dogs? (Bugsy)
OK this is a reach but I'm confused. From the day we brought him home Bugsy has hated the neighbor's all white (wandering) cat (he is cat sharp but this one is his nemesis) Then sometime last winter Bugsy reacted to a reactive mostly white *** eared dog aggressively. This was so out of character...

Gibson
Hey...so I haven't been around with too many problems with Gibby lately.......... oh he is still the "bad boy" sometimes...but he is growing up and getting better and better all the time. Biggest thing is to keep him from getting too excited......because THAT is when he gets hand to handle...

Crate training - older dogs
I have 2 ***-a-poo dogs (>20bls each). One male is 5 and the male is 4. Both neutered. Both have never been crate trained and sleep in bed with us at night. At first dogs would just sleep at the bottom of the bed and didn't bother us. They would just cuddle up together and it was fine. Lately...

new puppy won't pee outside
Good morning! We took in a puppy yesterday that a co-worker found lost on Monday. I don't yet know how old she is (going to the vet this morning for check-up and an age guesstimate), but she is itty bitty. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 10-ish weeks. So far, she has peed one time outside...

Yellow Lab Digging
My 4 year old yellow lab is digging up our back yard. We moved into a new house in April and he's proceeded to move around the yard and around the house digging. It's always close to something...either the brick of the house, the side of the concrete patio or along the fence line. He is in the...

my poodle is acting wierd
he is 7 years old and has spent 4 years with us, we also have a 7 year old husky.... lately he has shown an unusual interest in her. she has been "fixed" since she was a puppy so its not that. for the last week or so, he has been following her around, sniffing at her and frankly pestering her...

weird behavior
My dog is terrified of thundestorms. I have used the valerian root and calms and it has helped some. The problem now is, when we go for our walks at the park. She will think she's hearing thunder or a fire cracker and crouch down and not walk. It will be impossible to move her. I have to pretend...

Dog aggression (Shailer)
Yes you read right I don't know if Shailer is dog aggressive (not bitches though) or if he is just dominant. Since I have been fostering almost all the dogs I have had have either been females, puppies or small dogs, which he has showned no aggression towards them. Now I have an unaltered male dog...

Cesar dog undergoes *canine disarming*
http://tiny.cc/nOANA An unfortunate case of a failed attempt at rehabilitation, leading to not further attempts to change the dog's actual behaviour, but to try to minimize damage it still may try to cause. Personally, I do not at all like the idea of disarming. It will not stop a dog from...

How do i teach Advanced Down - Instant and at Distance
My dogs "lie down" is reasonable at close quarters, if a little slow and reluctant at times. Some dogs I see crash down as if their lives depended on it. How do I teach mine to lie down much quicker? And then how do I teach it at a distance - is it just a case of build up distance slowly...

Aggression problem
I adopted a dog a little over 2 weeks ago. When people visit our home she growls and barks at them the entire time they are here. She is about 1 to 2 yrs. old. I love her and will keep her. If anyone here has had this problem with a dog please respond. I would apppreciate any advice or suggestions...

Crate training and adult dog
How do I crate train Abigail? I worked with her for 30 minutes on sitting and layding down and I have introduced the crate to her. She is really afraid of anything new so I went about it slowly. I took her by the crate and gave her treats, when she was relaxed I opened the door and started giving more...

Golden Acting like she will bite
My 1.5 year golden has a great dislike for my mother-inlaw. Yesterday when she was over she tried to move my female golden out of her way. The dog put her mouth around my MIL ankle but did not bite down. Molly (the dog) has never done anything like this before. My MIL has a habit of yelling and chasing...

My dog plays a bit too aggressively with other dogs
I think I'll just get right into the question and if anyone needs a bit more background information I will gladly reply with that. He is well socialized and plays well with most dogs. I'd say at times he is a bit picky and play with dogs that match his energy. What I'm finding is an issue...
