    emotional pooping

So...I got my dog as a puppy from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. When I got her she had a broken tail and a broken spirit. She was an emotional wreck - she was territorial, didn't like other dogs, people, kids ...nothing! Over time and lots of training and love, she's become an amazing dog. She's still a bit afraid but after 4 years, she has come a long way. She can greet other dogs, plays at the dog park, she's now barking at guests at the door which is new but for the most part she's really improved! Recently, I had to take my dog to the vet a lot because of anal abscess issues. She freaked out, tried to bite me, the vet, the assistant. We have to muzzle her every time now and she's just really scared. And since these episodes, she's now so nervous that's she's pooping in the waiting room at the vet and now at the dog salon where she has been several times. I'm afraid because of his traumatic experience as a puppy that it's triggered her and now I don't know how to make her less nervous and more comfortable. Anyone have any suggestions?

Probably the best thing you can do for now is to stop by the vets and the groomers as often as possible.  Supply them with her favorite treats so she can just stop by to say "hi" and get an awesome treat and some loving up on.  She doesn't have to see the vet or the groomer, just beingthere and having nothing but good things happen will help her get over her feeling that "this is a scarey place to be".

Good luck with this.  Once they get set in their minds that someone or something is fearsome it takes a good deal of work to change that mindset.
