House Breaking 14 Wk old Min Pin Puppy
I have a 14 week old min pin puppy and boy is she a handful! Adorable, but a handful. I take her out immediately after she eats. If I see her start to squat to go pee I take her out and she won't go until we get back inside. She hasn't gone to the bathroom outside since we got her a few days...

re: the after care for my 10 yr. old+, after her dental surgery &...
My 10(+) yr. old Mollie just had dental surgery on Wed. 7-29-09 and the first evening she was home she actually ate some baked/broiled chicken, and the evening after that she also ate, but it was boiled chicken. That was on Thursday, 7-30-09, and she has not eaten since. I have offered her just about...

Ena Bean is resource guarding!
I'm caught in the middle between thinking how ridiculously cute she is, and strangling her At 18 months (almost on the DOT), she's suddenly become a very vocal crate guarder and mommy guarder. Oh, how I love doggy bootcamp! I'm doing lots of NILIF, with heavy, heavy praise, hoping to build...

Bell training????
How do I go about training our Stella to ring a bell to go outside. Right now she's doing great with her potty training, except for the fact she doesn't let us know when she HAS to go....we are just bringing her out all of the time. Is there anyone who's had success with this that can...

barking all night
About 2.5months ago, we decided to go back to crating our dogs (2 chihuahuas, a 5y-o & 4y-o). They're crated when we're not available to supervise them. It went surprisingly well. I really thought we would have problems initially, but they took to it immediately. It really settled their...

unexplained limping=sudden dog aggression?
Hi all! I have a 2 1/2 yr. old spayed pit who has had, since January, unexplainable limping. She favors her right front left hind legs usually. We have done x-rays, blood tests, etc., and nothing has been resolved. My vet is scratching his head trying to figure out what is going on. Now, suddenly...

Sneaking away to urinate
Hello all, Here is my problem. I currently have two dogs, one Minature Pinscher and a Chihuahua. The main problem I am having is that the pinscher which is a full grown adult will sneak away to urinate in another room. She will only do this if you aren't in the room with her though, if you keep her...

Curiosity vs Fence Fighting
Hello, I have a Border Collie and ASD. They are outside dogs during the day, until we get home. They are usually well behaved. We have lived next to other dogs without a problem before. But recently the Border Collie has become a little beaver. I had to reinforce my gate with metal (which stopped the...

Aggressive towards new puppy
Our 5 year old Boykin Spaniel has some health issues (high blood pressure and hypertension). She acts very skittish at times because of this and how it impacted her when we first found out. She's somewhat aggressive towards new people (barking, growling, etc.), but has never done anything beyond...

Roscoe has lost it.
My 2 year old GSD mix has been acting out for the about 5 months, and it's gotten to the point it's dangerous. I recently seperated from my fiance (who kept the beagles and the ridgeback) and I took Roscoe and the Corgi. I've been trying to blame his behavior on the move, but he's not...

13 Week Old Hesitant Pup
We adopted a pup from a shelter this weekend. She is 13 weeks old. Her mom was a plott hound/lab mix and the dad is unknown. She was brought into a kill shelter down south with her mom and all 6 of her litter mates around 5 weeeks of age. I know nothing about their history before that. They were in the...

Questions on Ian Dunbar's book
I am about 3/4's through Dunbar's puppy book and I absolutely love it! The more I learn about training, though, the more I realize how much I messed up with the ones I have already and have lost. But onward and upwards. This book gives amazing direction on what to do and when it needs to be done...

Is he trying to dominate me?
I have three dogs, a 3year old female toy poodle, a 3year old male mini, and a 4 month old male mini. All my dogs are normally very, very tame, the worst being the puppy who still play bites, but lately my 3yr old male has been growling at me- which is not like him at all. In the past, he will rarely...

What is going on with Bugsy??
In the past 7 months he has shown some behaviors that he had never had before. The two most important are: (1) Leash reactivity mainly focused on white dogs. I have been doing training with him on walks to work on this, changed how we attach the leash (various harnesses, flat collar, no prong), changed...

The destruction...
FWIW this is meant to be somewhat lighthearted. For some reason, our dogs always destroy something (often more, but at least one thing) every time that DH is home. When I'm home...nothing. He doesn't give them any more or less freedom than I do, and the things they destroy are either things they...

Advice on a new behavior
We've just enrolled Dexter in an obedience class - just started Saturday - so this is something I'll definitely bring up to the trainer. But I thought I'd see if anyone on the board has had a similar problem with their pooch. Dexter absolutely loves children - he was raised from a pup with...
