Do your dogs act differently, different places they go?
Greta is by far the most well behaved dog we have. Not that the others are not well behaved, but Greta has this regal attitude and is so laid back and quiet.....and is this way no matter where we go EXCEPT the MIL's house. For some reason whenever we take her to MIL's she turns into this gittery...

Suggestions please on generally nervous dog.
Related info: I have 5 dogs, in order of entering the household: Baby , Shep, Josie, Arlo, Daisy.(see my sig for breeds) Arlo is the dog that is annoying me beyond belief. He has a heart of gold, he is a Golden Retriever that was picked up as a stray, adopted out of a shelter, only to then be given away...

How animated are you?
Did any of you who are into training have trouble being more animated earlier on? Especially if you are the introverted quiet type like me. I really had to work hard at it, I still do. Watching how Patricia McConnell is in her seminars has helped me immensely. However, I still don't think I'm...

Me and my fiance made a flirt pole out of a 4 foot wood rod, 2 cotton gloves, a squeaky ball and braided twine rope. It turned out great! I take each dog out ands spin in circles having them chase it until im dizzy, then let them hang off of it, Kuniva LOVES to grab and hang off stuff LoL. It seems...

Recall Deer/ fast moving animals
Was wondering and hoping to hear experiances on this. When your dogs see deer/animals running away and go to chase them whats chance you can call them off when they already alerted to the moving animal? Proof and Kuniva will peel right off them with a "Leaveit!, Come!" except for on a...

When a dog loses a ball... what to do?
A retriever that I walk lost her ball recently when we were playing fetch. I couldn't get the dog's mind off the ball no matter what. We then went for a walk and she pulled like crazy because her mind was on that lost ball. Keep in mind, this dog normally can heel and walk on a loose leash. I...

Help, Bella attacked Amber
Tonight Bella attacked Amber. they haven't had a scuffle in over a year ( no blood was drawn - just lots of spit), they've actually been getting along better than they ever have since Akyra passed - like actually playing together. They have been living pretty peacefully together for almost 3...

Rubit collar clip
I just received my Rubitclips for the dogs' collars. They are tiny carabiner clips to which you attach their tags. If you're a chronic collar switcher like I am, you'll love how easy they are to switch from collar to collar, and yet, they are SECURE, more than any other quick change tag holder...

random aggression
Hi all! We have an amazing 2-yr old border collie/ black lab mix who rarely and randomly shows some aggressive behavior. She is easily the smartest dog I've ever had and was socialized early with puppy preschool, kindergarten, etc. She gets along well with other dogs and has never shown any form...

Does this count as a 'poisoned cue'?
You know, the typical verbal repetition of the cue word such as: "Sit... sit.... SIT!" So now, the dog doesn't sit immediately. Is this poisoning, and requires one to change the cue and start over again? Or can that be remedied if you just retrain? Or is it only cue poisoning when you admonish...

Barking ALL through the night..
We've recently moved into a new apartment. We've been here for about 3 weeks now. The first week it was good.. the dogs didn't really bark much or behave badly. Gradually though, things have gotten worse. The people who live upstairs have dogs ..so if Chico even hears them a tiny bit, he goes...

Yappy Hour Philosophy
Yappy Hour is FUN with a capital F, and just one way our clients spend time with their dogs - of course, most weeks we don't dress up. This video is from our Howl-O-Ween celebration, and the star is Lucy, who won second prize for her trick/costume combo. As you can see, all her friends are stopping...

CET Trainers?
Canadian dog trainer, Brad Pattison, has a training school that costs about $6000, I believe, to attend, and which graduates trainers with the designation C.E.T. According to one of his recent Facebook announcements, he is planning to expand those schools into the United States. He is the same guy whose...

post neuter aggression?
OK a while back I found a dog and was able to get him into a rescue and then into a foster home. The foster was going to adopt him except..........after stopping the pain meds post neuter he has become aggressive (her term, to me it sounds like reactivity) towards other dogs. He has bitten her when she...

I just got my 7 week old Dane this past Saturday and she has been an absolute dream. The 1st night she didn’t eat or drink, but by Sunday she was eating and drinking everything in sight. Is crate training cruel?
About 6 months ago I got a golden retriever puppy. The kids and I loved it, but we were having a TERRIBLE time training it. I read some books and got some advice from friends but nothing seemed to work. I finally tried the 'crate' method and it seems to be working quite well for me. Has anyone...

Whining
Haven't really asked any questions lately, which is a good thing I suppose. :P Simba's a LOT better now. Still has his moments but they're almost far and few between now. However there is one thing that has been with him since he was a wittle puppy and that is WHINING. I'm telling you...

Thunder Storms
Write now it is pouring rain and thundering real bad. My dog has never been with us in a bad storm, and right now she is whimpering, shivering and panting. I don't think I can stop it. Every time I talk to her she starts shivering more. My neighbors put their dog in the laundry room when it thunders...

Dominance Marking?
About a month ago my husband and I adopted a dog. He is neutered and housebroken. We had a cat already and took time to slowly introduce the cat and dog. However we are noticing that the dog is urine marking on things that the cat has scent on. For example, the couch that the cat sleeps on has been marked...
