Crate Training concern
Hello I have a 3 month old Silky Terrier puppy. We have been working on crate training him. I know a schedule is important so this is what I have been doing every day: Take him out first thing in the morning, feed him breakfast, back outside, back in crate while I get ready for work and out once again...

Marking during or after eating
I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced this behavior before? A light went off tonight that this is very likely intentional when I never even considered it would be ! My 5yr old intact male will leave a few drops during or after eating. This has gone on for over a year, completely random...

12 Week old pupy and 1 yr old puppy!
I have a one year old Jack/Doxi named Orion. we had decided that when he was a year that we would get a second puppy as a companion for Orion, we felt bad for leaving him alone when we are gone durning the day. They seem to be getting along however, Orion has decided that every morning he wants to...

Asking to go out
Hi My puppy is 4 months old now, and is doing great as far as being housebroken. I have to watch her though and I can tell when she has to go out, by how long it's been, if you woke up, got a drink, ate, etc. And she will go over to the door if she wants to go out sometimes, but doesn't really...

Why is he progressing outside, but really regressing inside?
Hey everyone, I'm stuck in a rut mentally with this one. Outside, his counter-conditioning is going very well, but as soon as we return inside... poof! He's gone. Hiding, at times slightly shaking. He's a 2-4 year old Black Labrador mix. He was wild for sometime, but for how long is...

FYI Regarding Nutro and Diamond factory
This is directly copied and pasted from their web site. A while back someone posted that their foods were made in this factory. I just wanted to advise of the discrepancy. I have also sent an email in regard to the Nutro Lamb and Rice formula in which someone has posted a very sad thing in regard to...

Introducing dogs to new baby!
Hello all, Just a quick question. I have two Shih Tzus who have been my babies (and I mean spoiled) for the passed 3 years. Now, I am due to give birth in 4 short weeks. These dogs do not have an aggressive bone in their bodies, and have been exposed to the pokes and pulls of young children quite a...

Do dogs understand when they've eaten something they shouldn't have
Over the weekend we gave Boomer a new toy. As per usual he destroyed it pretty quickly. There was some hard plastic on this toy and I guess he ate some of it. This morning when I woke up I found a peice of this plastic in his crate. He must have thrown it up during the night. Is it possible that dogs...

Reintroducing a dog to the pack
I have a rescue dog, Gandolf, now about 3 1/2 years old, male, german shepherd mix. He is dog aggressive and has shown aggression to humans (he has nipped at several house guests, and bit a neighbor in an electric wheelchair who was passing by in the alley). We have done obediance training with him,...

We're Keeping Him
I had started a lengthy post here about our second hand dog, the problems we were facing and how I didn't see a way we could possibly keep him. Well, we are going to keep him and it's mainly because I got massively pissed off at some other rehoming of dogs his previous owner did and further...

Singling out specific dogs?
Hey everyone! I was just wondering if dogs have a tendancy to 'single out' other, specific dogs? There is one dog in our apartment complex that Cyrus cannot walk by without snarling and barking at; it's a Shiba Inu, about his age, I think. He has also shown aggression towards other dogs in...

sudden aggression!!
My 2 year old Westie is extremely well tempered and we love him for that. I've never seen him with an aggression problem until tonight. We've been trying to train him to walk unleashed. So my bf took him out tonight, and Chowey decides to go on his own. My bf tried to pick him up and he growled...

Standing on the Fence?
Hi All! I finally solved the problem of the dogs behind us by putting up a screen between our yard and theirs. I only have one yard-related problem left... I put privacy lattice up against the front of my chain link to keep them from noticing everything that goes on in the street. (Our yard wraps...

How to calm/occupy a doggie
I posted a related thread in the "my dog is sick" forum, but I thought I'd spread the wealth and see about getting some ideas, here. One of my dogs who is a rescue from Katrina, and also somewhat uneasy with his crate (although much better than he used to be) was just diagnosed Heartworm...

Barking at the older dog
I'm not exactly sure how to explain this and I'm at a total loss on how to Deal with it! My older dog Tia (boxer/shepard) loooooves to bark at anyone and anything outside our front door. Lucy (healer mix) of course must join in on the barking. I tell them "enough" and most of the time...
