Standing on the Fence?

    Standing on the Fence?

    Hi All!

I finally solved the problem of the dogs behind us by putting up a screen between our yard and theirs.  I only have one yard-related problem left...

I put privacy lattice up against the front of my chain link to keep them from noticing everything that goes on in the street.  (Our yard wraps around the back and up to about 5' from the sidewalk.)  They will "stand" up with their front paws on the fence and bark over the fence.  Which is not only annoying, I'm sure it terrifies everyone walking by.

A wood fence is not in the near future for us.  We have a roof to do first.  Is there anything I can do to keep them standing on the fence?

I'm always outside with them - and I try to re-direct them when people walk by.  Tux will often grab his rope and come play tug ... but not always.  Is this the right idea or is there something else I should be doing?

    Thanks so much!

Would it be possible for you to plant some bushes or shrubs along the fence line on the inside of the yard? You could put some pretty ones there and that would put a space between the dogs and the fence so they can't get to it.

You could do something pretty like Butterfly Bush, or Hydrangea, Lilac, etc. Just check to make sure none of them are poisonous to dogs first. That was my plan before I found out I am selling my house. I have a store on the other side of my fence that wasn't there when I moved in and Boss doesn't like the people coming and going all the time. All of the ones I mentioned grow pretty tall. The butterfly bush and the hydrangea are said to grow fast.
