Need help with puppy aggression issue please
Ok, my little guy is 9 weeks old. Today, we walked in the backyard (he on his leash) with my older 2 year old girl (both are pure beagles). He found some bugs, so I picked him up and carried him away. This turned into a battle of wills as he kept trying to walk or pull back to the bugs and I kept picking...

Hi! New to the boards[ ] Thought I would joing something like this as my time is either spent with my daughter or my two pups. We installed invisible fence for our dogs. They are very good with verbal command. We had been very bad and had just let them run/roam free for most of their lives. We decided...

Second Hand Dog
First Off, I have to say hats off to those of you who adopt and foster "second hand dogs," I don't know how you do it over and over again. Every dog I've ever lived with has been one I've raised since a pup, until now. Four weeks ago we were given a 6 year old toy poodle, a...

Desperate, Please Help
We have two golden retrievers, one is a 20 month old male and the other is a 7 month old female. The male is 90 pounds, the female 40. Both came from the same breeder. The male started having seizures just after his first birthday. He would seize 2-3 times a night, exhibited really frantic behavior...

Humping
I have two dogs, a 3 year old female black lab mix(spayed) and a 1 and a half year old male yellow lab mix(unneutered). My male dog every so often starts humping my female dog; surely thats not uncommon, but the fact that he humps her head is! My female dog does not like this, and the male dog does...

9 week old puppy - questions about biting, etc.
I have a few questions for everyone. 1. I have a 9 week old beagle boy (and a 2 year old beagle girl). During certain periods, usually like when he is excessively tired and won't lay down, he has a biting fit. I try to put other toys in his mouth, tell him no bite, but he refuses every try and always...

He is The Boss
Question about training timing
I have discussed some of Boss' issues on the forum before. He is very reserved with strangers, especially if he is on leash. Last night at the store he lunged at a woman, something he usually does not do.. he saves that for men. Right after that, he sat and let his favorite worker at the store pet...

Crate and Housebreaking a dog
Several months ago I lost my spouse and decided that I needed a dog to pass the time with. I have not had a dog for several years, but I got an 8 week old german shepard/boder collie mix given to me the other day. My vet was so-so in what to do, maybe because she was busy and did not have time. I would...

Frisbee training?
I am trying to teach my australian healer mix, Lucy, to catch the frisbee and I'm at a loss. What I've been doing is throwing her the ball like 4-5 times and then I throw the frisbee and tell her to bring the frisbee back to me. She looks at me like I've lost my mind or something and picks...

Musical crates
I am in the process of crate training our new rescue dog. I also thought it might be nice for Roxy to have her crate again, even though she is trustworthy in the house and is allowed to be loose (Roxy has always hated her crate). At this point, the crates are kept open. I have noticed that no one goes...

Won't go where I want her to!
Hi, this is my first dog, at least a dog that stays in the house. I have never had to housetrain a puppy because My dogs have always been outside dogs and they would just go where they wanted to. I recently (yesterday) got a beagle mix puppy 12 weeks old. I go to school during the day, so I would prefer...

Aggressive Puppy or Normal?
I grew up with the most mellow Beagle on the face of the earth, so I am a bit unsure of some of my puppy's behaviors. My parents assure me that it is normal, and our dog (the beagle) was "abnormal". I have an 11 week old female yellow lab who I adore. However, I worry about a couple...
