2 aussie shep pups and toys.
-this is a repost - i realized it was better suited to this forum- hello all, I have 2 puppies. A 10 month old female aussie shep named Deunan, and a 4 month old male aussie shep named Aydin. Right now, whenever deunan wants to play with a toy, be it to chew on a bone - play fetch. Aydins mission...

Swimming in the lake.
Rescuing my little furball has really turned out quite well. He is a really well behaved little guy and I have no complaints at all. He does have one behavior that could be a problem. He loves to swim. Our pool has a child safety gate so he can only get in the pool when we let him. No problem there...

Working on Resource Guarding and Drop It
So, we are working with Wesley on his guardiness using the type of protocol in "Mine!" and we have not had any guarding incidents in a while - but I also don't really let Wesley have anything I think he might guard, because I am not confident, based on past experiences, that I will be able...

Is This Wrong?
To stop Zoe's constant barking, I punched a hole in a water bottle lid and then filled the bottle with water so we could squirt her when she barked. It worked, she barks once now and then stops. So I decided to use the water bottle when we go for walks. If she got ahead of me, I would squirt across...

Protective issues
I think I may have a solution but wanted to get the opinions of some I-doggers... Whenever someone comes over to our house that Prince doesn't know, he goes into vicious guard dog mode. Now I know he is a Doberman and they are protective to begin with but lately it keeps getting worse and worse...

Learning about behaviors
To those of you out there who are "animal behaviorists", I am wondering what the certifications are. What are the credentials? Where do you get your training? I am not asking this tongue in cheek or sarcastically, I am genuinely interested. Is it like becoming a vet where you have to go to...

Aggression?
I don't know if it was my dog or the other dog, but someone growled. It was a "goldendoodle" that approached Marley. They were smelling eachother the first second...the next one of them was growling! I don't know which one though. I've never heard Marley growl! If it was him...I'm...

Crate training 8 month old Chihuahua
I'm having a lot of difficulty litter training my Chihuahua. We bought him from a pet store at 8 months old (he sat around a long time, no one wanted him) so obviously he needs a lot of training. We're using the crate method, since me and my girlfriend work. The troubles we are having is that...

Barking/Howling inside house
We have a 2-yr old golden retriever/standard poodle mix. She's a great dog, no aggression issues or anything of the sort. One of the things we'd like to address is her barking/howling, though. Other than an occasional play bark, she's normally very quiet. However she starts into a loud...

Now for my next trick...
Ok Blue has pretty much master saying his prayers except we are still working on getting to put his paws on other objects instead of wanting to put his paws on my hands and then bow his head. So I'm in need of a new trick for him to learn. Any ideals on what I should teach Blue next and I need...

New Puppy to a house w/ 2 cats
I have 2 cats and I just got a new puppy. The cats did not like the puppy the first couple days, they did the whole hissing and scared for their life routine. The puppy just wants to play, but the cats really take offense to anything the puppy does. I realize the cats can really hurt him, so I keep them...

Reactive vs Aggressive
Alright, somebody explain it, again. V-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. LOL I've always thought Emma was a reactive dog. Emma is not blatantly aggressive (when she's not post ictal, but that's a totally different situation). She has some mild leash aggression, which is so common in the breed it's...

Another Cockapoo Fiasco
Hi All-- Things have been going pretty good with my new dog. Except now she does the excited, so I'll pee, dancing whenever I approach her or whenever my wife greets her. I know sometimes she's showing her willingness to be "inferior" in the pack of ours-- but we don't really...

housebroken until a week ago!
Hello....my 1.3 year old basenji mix came to us nearly hosebroken already, and we had no problem getting her to be completely housebroken, with only an accident here or there. We take her out in the morning, and sometimes she goes #2 and sometimes she doesn't, but regardless she never would do it...
