Pairing up Dogs
We have a 1 yr old (just turned 1) female yellow lab that has LOTS of energy, and a great personality, although she is a dominate dog. She is friendly around people and other dogs, however she isn't afraid to speak her mind if another dog is bothering her....and just from my own observation, it seems...

Does your Dog Flush?
My 3 year old Aussie male, always finishes his bowel movement with scratching up the ground with his hind legs. We like to joke that he's flushing his toilet. About 2 or 3 weeks ago, he started doing the same scratching action after peeing. Do your dogs do that too? What is the significance of the...

Adult cats and new dog
We've added a 14-week-old golden retriever puppy to our family of two humans and two cats. As might be expected Milo is just fascinated by the cats, and while he doesn't seem to be aggressive towards them, he desperately wants to chase them and regardless finds them endlessly fascinating. ...

Help With Understanding The Situation
I haven't had Mack very long, only since first week of April or so. I don't know his history. He is around 2, Lab/Mastiff. Neut. and in nearly all situations, extremely mellow. Twice now he has growled at little kids. This concerns me. I spend a lot of time teaching my kids to be very gentle...

It used to happen at night when they were trying to get their spots to sleep now its starting to happen as we let them out to go to the bathroom...

Puppy will poo on the pad, but not pee?
My 3 month old has the pooping down pat, either outside or on the "pee pad". But, he will not pee on the pads. He goes outside or on the carpet. Any suggestions?

Do your Business!
Have any of your trained a dog to "do their business" (go the bathroom) on command? I have some friends that have a couple of seeing-eye dog flunkies (still VERY WELL trained...just didn't make the cut) and they were taught to go the bathroom on command. I had never seen this before...

Barks for guests
Zoe barks when people knock at the door or whatever. Fine. Then she will bark at them for a while... whether they pet her, ignore her, give her a treat or anything. Sometimes she quiets down quickly (especially if it is a group of people coming over) but I find she is worst when one person comes over...

No warning urinating
I have a 15 week old puppy that seems to be doing fine. He can potty outside on command, but occasionally when he comes into the house, he urinates without warning. Today, I took him out and he did his business. Came in and 10 minutes later he urinated on a throw rug in my hallway. This is about the...

Lonely puppy
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I figured it was somewhere to start. Dexter is a malte-poo, just over a year old. I just started a new job and I am gone for about 10 hours a day. It has only been one week, but he is not handling this well at all. He is very depressed and...

SA or age appropriate?
I know my pup is only 15 weeks, but I think we may be dealing with some S.A. issues. I hoping for a little help. Now, I get that some dogs don't love their crate like others, so I'm not distrubed by that. We still have some barking issues in the crate while I'm gone but I'm more worried...

dog licking us - pack thing?
Zoe likes to lick us... any bare skin we show... arm, belly, leg, anything, and she is thorough about her licking. My bf today suggested maybe it is a pack instinct and she thinks she is cleaning us. Do you think that is possible? She is almost 3 years old and spayed. I keep saying if she could lick...

Licking non-stop
Zuni loves to lick ... at first I thought it was a sign of affection ... but now she licks you just about every time she approaches you. We call it her snake move, because her tongue moves as fast as a snake when she does it ... Could it be anxiety? nervousness?
