No warning urinating

• No warning urinating Patrick W Posted : 5/10/2006 12:54:37 PM I have a 15 week old puppy that seems to be doing fine.  He can potty outside on command, but occasionally when he comes into the house, he urinates without warning.  Today, I took him out and he did his business.  Came in and 10 minutes later he urinated on a throw rug in my hallway.  This is about the 3rd time he had done this.  I have used a enzyme solution to do away with odars.  He does not urinate in the same place. I have never had a bwoel movement problem with him at all.   I just turned my back for a second and he went.  I have him on a strict schedule of feeding, crate time and watering with no water after 9 PM.  So what is happening here?  Any help would be appreciated. • angelamarie Posted : 5/10/2006 1:16:35 PM What a darling face on your little pup.  What's happening here is he's a puppy!!!  Fifteen weeks is a bit young to expect 100% reliability in house training.  I would put that throw rug in the laundry with hot water wash and laundry soap and a bit of vinegar to help eliminate the odor.  Any urninated spots in the house need to be cleaned with a big soaking of an enzymatic cleanser meant for pet stains and then follow it up by spraying the area with NO GO, it helps eliminate future use of the area.  Make sure you limit his access to the house, keep him gated in a small area where you can keep an eye on him and watch for signals that he's got to go.  It sounds like you've got a good housebreaking plan going, it's just going to take a bit longer.  0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. • Patrick W Posted : 5/10/2006 1:38:22 PM Thank you!!  I thought maybe I was just getter older and more senile!!!  I have never had trouble with any dog I have raised from a pup doing such a thing.  I used an enzyme pet odor solution to clean the rug .  This is the first time he has done so on this rug.  This guy trains easy.  I can get him to speak for a treat, take him outside and tell him to go potty and he goes right to his spot.  He can sleep in his crate from 11 PM till 6 AM no problems.   But I have noticed that he has a mind of his own and often talks back at me in a smarta** way when I tell him to do something.    It has been a while since I have had a puppy, so the theory of its just like riding a bicycle does not apply here.   Patrick 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
