too much?
Cadie has proven to not be a morning eater... she will not touch her kibble at all during the AM. I did tough love the first few mornings, but this morning I left it in her crate with her all day - and she didn't touch it. Now - she'll eat her breakfast at night - after our park or trip to the...

Chicken Livers
I've been feeding my 4-year-old cocker Monty raw for over a year. I've been using Stella and Chewy's and Primal frozen meat (ground up in a patty). I started giving Monty chicken necks a few times a week with outstanding results, better than the premade frozen. Monty's 19 pounds, on the...

Who makes cat food, raw or cooked?
I really would like to try to get Kovu off commercial food. I kind of think that it, and not necessarily overfeeding, is the reason he's so fat (16 pounds last I checked. He's a big boy, but should probably only be 12 or 13). Problem is he's not been interested the times I've tried...

I bought raw food...now what?
Our grocery store was having a sale on turkey necks, chicken necks, and gizzards, so I picked up a few packages of each. I've not fed raw before. Do I really just open up a package of turkey necks and throw one to each dog? I know that anything with a bone cannot be cooked, but should it be...

transitioning new puppy off of a crappy food....
The breeder we're getting our new puppy from, feeds crappy food. I don't want to have an argument with her over it, and I figure he'll only be eating it for what, 3 weeks at their house. I really don't even want to BUY any of this food for him, but I know I'll need to, in order to...

Food with Free Range Chicken/Meat?
Does anyone know of any brands that have only free range chicken or meat in them? I heard Natural Balance and Karma do, but are there any others? I have a vegan friend who is looking for more animal friendly foods for her dogs. Thanks!

Saw this in my grocery store: Haven pet food
http://www.havenpetfood.com/about.html It really doesn't look that bad. It's put out by kent mills, which there are a couple in my area. Anyone try it? The cost is about a dollar a pound. Nice to see something like this available instead of the usual crappy foods, give people the chance...

Help!
I have been having issues with my dog - she has gotten extremely finicky out of no where and will not eat dog food - canned or dry. She has dropped a lot of weight and will hardly eat. My vet gave her a vitamin B shot in an attempt to stimulate her appetiteand I am turning in a fecal sample tomorrow...

Chicken backs causing sores on the gums.....
anyone else experience this? Rivers has been eating raw chicken backs every other day for a few weeks now; yesterday I noticed he's got what looks like irritated areas around a few teeth. Is this common for dogs that eat RMB's? They look awfully sore to me....thought the bones were soft enough...

Training a Deaf Herding Dog - LONG!
Gus is our dog that we got a couple years ago from Jack Knox. He's a nice, nice dog and well trained. But sadly he has early hearing loss - bilateral. We knew this when we took him and realized he'd most likely be completely deaf at some point - whether soon or much later, was unknown and we...

Baking turkey drumsticks? (meg)
Pirate's home cooked calls for turkey dark meat, with skin. The best thing I've found so far are big honking turkey legs, but the meat is still on the bones. After a really fun first experience of hacking the raw meat off the bones with kitchen shears, Mordanna told me I could bake them and then...

Pork neck question
Do you feed the (what appears to be) cut pieces from the grocery store or do you buy them elsewhere. The meat market, which sells frozen meats, didn't seem to have pork necks the last time I was there. So the only places available are the various grocers. It's just for recreational chewing...

Agility Update
Hi everyone! I know I have not been around as much but I have been busy. I wanted to update you on Belle and agility, and we "might" have postable videos very soon. Some of the agility readers here may remember I was worried about Belle's course times, the fact she was usually "just"...

Holding objects and turn lights on cue
I have some new tasks to tain neiko (and eventually train the other two). He beams when he helps me with things and I could use some help with him waking me up in the mornings. So the first thing is turning my bedroom light on when my alarm goes off. He already has a good touch. However he is a typical...

Slightly Elevated BUN
Baily went in last week for his heartwork check. I have two tests to choose from....one is very simple...the other is slightly more expensive but covers more areas. I have always choosen the "mini-panel". I figure bloodwork once a year is a good thing. Anyway, his results came back with everything...
